I’ve missed you! Haven’t been on FR much lately. Couldn’t stay away when I heard about Tony! Not much more can be added to all the wonderful things being said about him. Just, damn, I’ll miss his insight and humor and those good old days on the Snowflake threads!

“.....And while God doesn’t promise tomorrow, he does promise eternity.”

That is so.... so Tony. One of the reasons he was so well loved. Yes, a real keeper. A look into the mind and heart of our dear friend.

Tony Snow Remembered

“The line of blacked-out vehicles in front was a reminder of how much of official Washington was present, and the pews were filled with leading figures from the worlds of government, politics and journalism.

Usually such gatherings are gregarious. But this was a tearful, somber, sobering day.

The service included remarks by his son Robbie Snow, who spoke for his mother, Jill, and his sisters, Kendall and Kristi.

Snow’s brother, Steven, also spoke.”

The Very Rev. David M. O'Connell said:

"The measure of this man's life can be found in his character, in his optimism, in his joy and humor, in his courage, in his passion for what was good and right, and in his love for God and family and neighbor and country," the Very Rev. David M. O'Connell, president of Catholic University, said in his homily.

Tony Snow did not need a long life for us to measure. It was, rather, we who needed his life to be longer."

Wonderful words...

Thank you, Fudd Fan!

“It’s easy to imagine God doing this for Tony!

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.”

Just reading those words starts the tears. I wonder if it was sung at Tony’s funeral?

It’s perfect.

O'Connnell quoted from a piece Snow wrote last year in Christianity Today magazine: "I don't know why I have cancer, and I don't much care. We don't know how the narrative of our lives will end, but we get to choose how to use the interval between now and the moment we meet our Creator face-to-face."

....and now he has achieved this goal..God rest you, dear Tony....

I found it at a Native American celebration up in the Finger Lakes years ago. My husband asked why I was buying 6 (8x10) copies! I was hoping someday to have it in calligraphy. But I’ve given away many, many copies and everyone who has received it said it gave them great comfort.

The son of a couple at church was found dead in his apartment—they never learned the cause. His mother and father both said that poem helped them immensely to feel that their son was still present. He had loved the outdoors and was always hiking, biking or skiing.

As the mother of a Marine who died in Iraq said, He isn’t dead; he’s still alive. He’s just in a different place”.

I have to remember that about Tony!

“You can buy term insurance for very little money...if you wait until you know you need it you won’t be able to buy it. I was one of those guys who thought I was never going to die. I had insurance at work and thought that was enough. Then I got a cancer diagnosis and now life insurance is impossible to buy. Don’t put it off. “

I don’t have children and am not married (yet) but I have a policy and you are so right. Then I had a medical scare and it was lots of question marks as the doctors didn’t have a clue what was going on. (At one point they coudln’t rule out liver cancer.)

I was very comfortable on a spiritual level with moving on but the best feeling was knowing I had things in good shape for my mom and other family and friends.

Your words hopefully will help others.

What wonderful insight. Did he say that in his “Cansers Unexpected Blessings”?

Surrounded by Your glory,
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance before you, Jesus,
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence,
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?

I can only imagine...

(From “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe)

I can see Tony doing ALL of the above. Above all, he was a man of strong faith. He really loved the Lord, and now he is with Him. May God pour blessings on the Snow family.

*sniff*

*woof*
