TWA Flight 800 Downed 12 Years Ago Today

I dedicated my book, What’s The Matter With California, to a retired United Airline pilot named Ray Lahr, “a true Californian and patriot”—and with good reason.

Today, the tireless World War II vet and his intrepid attorney, John Clarke, are all that stand in the way of the successful execution of the single most astonishing cover-up in American peacetime history.

What makes this whole event so astonishing is that TWA Flight 800 went down with 230 good souls on board in full view of literally hundreds of eyewitnesses on Long Island’s affluent south shore.

Even more astonishing, although 270 of those eyewitnesses—pilots, fishermen, surfers, military people—gave the FBI detailed accounts, many with illustrations, of a likely missile attack on the aircraft, the New York Times interviewed not a one of them.

When the eyewitness accounts begin to match, the reverse is true. As more and more eyewitnesses give the same details, the likleyhood that they actually got it right begins to climb. There are dozens and dozens of witnesses who gave accounts of particular details that matched exactly.

And there are dozens more which gave conflicting details.

30 Witnesses may have seen a guy rob a bank, get into a car, and flee the scene. They variously saw, a man, a woman, a black guy, a white guy, a Chevy a Ford, a Honda, etc.... But 12 of the witnesses distinctly saw a blue, 4-door sedan with a broken right headlight tearing out of the bank parking lot. The police will start looking for a blue, 4-door sean with a boken headlight.

In this case there were, what, 300 witnesses? Many giving conflicting testimony.

At none of those other crashes were there dozens and dozens of credible eyewitnesses who saw something streak up into the sky and intersect with the path of plane at the same time it exploded.

To be honest, I also think that the plane that crashed on the outskirts of NYC after 9/11. (sometime in Oct.) was also taken down. My guess a of the shoe bombers who succeeded.

That particular plane went down because the tail fell off. And they know that because the tail was found a distance from the rest of the aircraft. Must have been on heck of a shoe bomb.

I’m more convinced of islamic terrorists was involved with OKC - evidence is more overwhelming.

Good thing the government rushed to put those anti-explosion devices in every commercial aircraft without delay. Since then we could all fly safely without fear of the fuel tank blowing up.

Merely lowering myself to the level of the discussion.

The only one I see lowering it here is you. No I am not talking about the quality of the theories or evidence I am talking about plain niceness and decency. If you can't say anything but insults to everyone that wants to discuss this then do us all a favor and go find another thread. We can do without someone getting their jollies by being rude and insulting.

Which credible witness's story do you subscribe to? The ones that say the streak rose from the water or the ones who say it rose from the land or the ones who say it originated in the air? The ones who said it was a white streak or the ones who said it was a pink streak or the ones who say it was orange? Do you agree with the ones who said the direction was west to east, east to west, straight up, or traveled vertical or near vertical?

At the time, I thought it looked very similar to an AIM-9. But 12 years later, I wouldn’t bet my career on it unless I had access to the video for analysis.

I’m not saying it WAS an AIM-9, I’m saying it had similar characteristics which gave me a sense of the Chaparral launches I’ve seen.

The FAA did make 15 safety recommendations as a part of their investigation 12 years ago. What the FAA did this week was make those recommendations mandatory.

I think there were in the neighborhood of 600 witnesses who gave statements. Many of those statements were something like “I heard a loud bang, turned, and saw fire falling from the sky.” Not very useful for any investigation, but they were on Long Island and saw the tragedy.

Going strictly from memory, I think 167 or so saw something going up before the fireball.

There are 40-50 of these who recounted, in great detail, the same scene of a missle-like object going up and intersecting the plane.

3 days into the investigation, the FBI lost ALL interest in anything other than mechanical failure.

Laugh all you want and make your snide little comments. The FBI lied about McVeigh getting help in the Oklahoma City bombing.

I fully believe the FBI lied about TWA800, at the administrations direction, so that Bill and Hillary would have no terror investigation hanging over the upcoming Olympics, and more importantly, their upcoming re-election.

I’m not saying it WAS an AIM-9, I’m saying it had similar characteristics which gave me a sense of the Chaparral launches I’ve seen.

And I'm always interested in talking with people with experiences that I don't have, and I'm not trying to dismiss what you saw. All my missile experience was with Navy SAMs so while I'm familiar with the Chaparral I've never seen one in action. But correct me if I'm wrong, but the Chaparrel launcher weighed quite a bit and the missile used a heat seaking warhead. And one reason why I believe all these missile theories fall apart is because of limitations like this. Anything other than a shoulder fired SAM requires a launcher of some kind, so that leaves out small boats and the like. If it was a SAM, even ignoring the range limitations, then it used a heat-seeking warhead. Anything using a heat seaking warhead would have homed in on the biggest heat source around - one of the 4 engines. And I've seen nothing to indicated that any of them took the missile hit.

Again, I don't doubt that you saw something. It's just that the idea that it was a missile that brought the plane down just makes little sense to me, in light of what kind of missiles might have been available.

I subscribe to the theory that dozens of extremely credible witnesses saw something in the air moving towards TWA800 before it exploded. These witnesses each saw this independantly of each other and recounted what they saw without consulting each other.
