Congrats on your permit. However, I absolutely can’t stand the discriminatory CCW system here in CA. If a state is going to issue CCW permits, issuance must be based on an objective set of criteria, not at the whim of some local official. Hopefully post-Heller the CA system can eventually be reformed.

Based on the DC example, California’s system isn’t going to be reformed, It may be made worse! It’s easier to get a
CCW in one of the rural counties.

Another reason not to get a CHL in TX is because it puts you in a BIG data base. If you get stopped for any traffic infraction, when they run you car license tag, it has the information that you have a CHL.

I'm not sure this is even legal--and I keep thinking I'm going to look into that, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Fellow Pa person here. You’re absolutely right. Also, all it takes here to get a CCW permit is $25 ( I suspect that is just to cover the cost it takes them to have a place to process the apps, do a background check and issue the cards ) and three friends who will vouch for your character. Yes, I’m not happy that we have to pay for our constitutional right, but they do make it pretty easy in Pa.
