Foxnews ^

WASHINGTON The political vision of a summer gas tax holiday died a quick death in Congress, losing to a view that federal excise taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel far from dropping will have to go up if they go anywhere

Let’s be more specific...the Democrats in Congress have proposed raising gasoline taxes, not the Republicans! It’s up to the Republicans to fight this and to make noise.

Among other revenue-raising possibilities, the commission recommended gradually increasing the current federal fuel taxes to 40 cents a gallon. Unbelievable. Simply shocking.

Their may come a day when the unions that do this type of work may very well need to take a pay cut, much like the airline industry. These are democrat constituents, so this would make this interesting and probably unfeasable. The auto industry went through it as well. The days of $40 per hour for doing nothing are over, and it will hit the highest paid union dopes first. To bad for the unions, and this will come about sooner than later. But with all the unemployed their are going to be plenty of scabs out there!!
Let the games begin....

If you think they're done, just wait until the fall when Nancy Pelosi not only refuses to allow a vote on offshore drilling, but ties a vote on renewal of the offshore drilling ban to the passage of the entire federal budget authorization (the annual "omnibus" bill).
Republicans will be invited to fight the drilling ban at the cost of "starving the children" or "making old people eat dog food". It's coming.

Yep, all we had to do was get a candidate that conservatives would vote for, and it was a slam dunk. Instead, we got McCain which ensured a Hussein win. The more the GOP moves to the center, the more they'll get their butts handed to them.
Hussein would be easy to beat with a half-way conservative candidate, instead we have McCain who no Conservative could ever vote for.

Randall — good idea. But ... I just printed your graphic, squinted hard, to be able to read the text, and retyped it into CorelDraw, business card size. (You can do this in any word processor, too.) I dropped one that didn’t catch my fancy leaving 5 down one side of the page. Quick copy to the other side and I now get 10 “Thank a Democrat” business cards every time I print it.
I will hand them out to everyone I run into between now and election time ... friend and foe alike.
Thanks for the idea.

We will hear the thundering sounds of silence from the GOP. The RATs will accuse them of wanting people to die on bad roads and bridges.
Instead of standing up and making noise, just to make sure the sheeple know this is a RAT idea, the RINOs will weakly squeal and crawl into their little holes.

This is one of those occasions when I don't believe the story at all. If Fox believes this story, that reinforces my low opinion of their network.
There's not a chance that congress will raise the gas tax. They might continue to block drilling, but they won't do something that overt right before an election.

Here ya go. You might need to do a little rewording to make it fit. Deleting one of the six to better match business card stock doesn't hurt, since no one is going to be collecting the entire series. :-) You may need to adjust font and font size to make a couple of them fit.
Gas Price Too High?
Thank a Democrat!
They vote against drilling for our own oil.
They vote for raising your gas taxes.
They vote against building new refineries.
Remember to Vote!
**********************
Gas Price Too High?
Thank a Democrat!
When you read about all of the oil companies making record profits, consider that they only make around 10% of their gross. Microsoft makes around 33% of their gross.
And Democrats want you to think it is bad, so they want to tax the oil companies even more. Guess who will pay for it?
Remember to vote!
**********************
Gas Price Too High?
Thank a Democrat!
The price of the things you buy in stores has gone up, too. The increase is because shipping costs have risen. The reason for that is, fuel costs have risen.
And Democrats in Washington, DC and Idaho want to make it cost still more by raising gas taxes, and oil companies business taxes which you will pay!
Remember to vote!
**********************
Gas Price Too High?
Thank a Democrat!
Think hybrid cars and alternative fuels are the answer? In California, there are a lot of these types of vehicles on the roads. The result is that the tax revenue expected from gasoline sales werent what the Democrats had hoped for. People were conserving and saving money the best way they could.
So the Democrats, to make up for the shortfall in revenue from gasoline taxes RAISED THE GASOLINE TAXES!
Remember to vote!
***********************
Gas Price Too High?
Thank a Democrat!
The price of gas will go up in the Spring, regardless of what the price of oil is at the time.
Why? Because of Democrats!
No new refineries and changing blends around the country twice a year mean the refineries we do have must shut down and retool. THOSE refineries are running at around 99% capacity the rest of the year!
Remember to vote!
