Congress Wexler Doesn't Own a Home in Florida

Posted on 07/22/2008 5:12:56 PM PDT by kcvl

According to the Fox O'Reilly Factor

He lists his mother-in-laws' residence in an elderly area that doesn't allow children...Wexler has three teenagers.

He actually lives in Maryland and claims to own a home in Florida which is a lie. I wonder where he pays taxes? If at all.

In the tax law there is a deduction for a second primary residence. You can have a home in the mountains and one in the city and get the mortgage deduction on each if you don't rent one of them out.

I believe the origin of this law, was the congress. Most members of congress will purchase in the DC area, including Maryland. It's a good thing to do, rather than rent. Their expenses probably pay their mortgage.

So far the only suspicious thing I saw was that this guy lives in Fla at his in-laws where children cannot live more than 2 months a year. Maybe the kids are in Maryland the rest of the time.

We're so hungry to get some of these people, we start the meal without checking the ingredients.

To run for office from a district one is required to be a resident of that district.

Is that a Fed or state law?..... What happens in redistricting when a congress critter is moved out of his district? Seems I’ve read of that happening before but don’t know the reprecussions regarding being able to run or be re-elected.

I think the question is much simpler - where does he STAY when he is in FL on business? If, when he comes ‘home’ to attend to constituent affairs, he is staying routinely in a hotel or a short term rental of some sort, and not at his MIL’s home where he claims residence and voter registration, then it is most clearly a fraud.

If he stays at her place when he is in town then it is a much smaller issue in my mind.

Simple question: when in FL for his home town trips where has he most commonly stayed in the past?

The funny part would be if he were forced to now stay with her more often than he has previously, and she gets sick of his smarmy self-righteous a$$ and kicks him out.

These questions are way beyond my ‘pay grade’. But here in E. TN I seem to recall (decades ago) a district redrawn taking into account the residence of the sitting rep so that the rep remained in the district.

Well that wasn’t in evidence tonight. So, we saw him in Maryland? So what? If you want to prove someone doesn’t live somewhere, you got some homework to do. Let’s not bury the body, yet.

He’ll have to put in some appearances I would think or OReilly’s producer will pop out of the bushes.

Cal legislature:

(c) A person is ineligible to be a member of the Legislature unless the person is an elector and has been a resident of the legislative district for one year, and a citizen of the United States and a resident of California for 3 years, immediately preceding the election.

I’m not in the business of presenting evidence. I was simply pointing out that Wexler doesn’t live where he claims he lived (even if part time).

When you show me how someone knows he doesn’t also reside in that Fla home, then you may be looked upon as someone who’s got some credibility. All I’ve seen so far from you is some psuedo-snappy repartee and knee-jerk attitude.

Former Senator Tom Daschle similarly reported his mothers home in Aberdeen, SD as his state residence though he lived in his lobbyist wife’s mansion outside Washington, DC and only showed up in South Dakota to campaign and for photo ops.

You obviously can’t read.

When someone asks another to stop posting to them the rule is that you STOP.

All you want to do is argue instead of actually checking for yourself. If you don’t want to believe me fine. Go away.
