FreeRepublic master thread ^ | dfu

HERE IS A PLACE TO START

FReepers, we need a master thread to which we can refer and to which we can post additional illegal alien crime information.

Please bookmark this thread. Bring in your stories and your links. Let's make this a great wealth of reference material. Laura Ingraham may be able to use it as she goes after Gavin Newsome and the sanctuary city of San Francisco. Laura vowed today on her show to help get justice for Danielle Bologna, whose husband and two sons were gunned down by a Salvadoran felon who was protected by San Francisco's sanctuary city policy.

HeraldTribune ^ | July 22, 2008 | Staff Report

Posted on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 4:26:27 PM by mdittmar

PALMETTO – An 18-year-old Palmetto man is accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl who he picked up after she ran away from home around noon Sunday.

Gavino Guitierez, of 4003 3rd Ave. Blvd. E., told authorities he had sex with the girl three times. He also admitted that he is an illegal immigrant from Mexico, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s report.

The girl returned home at about 6 p.m. Sunday and deputies were waiting to question her about where she had been. The girl said she was with Guitierez and had sex with him, according to a report.

Guitierez is being held on three counts of felony lewd and lascivious battery with a $150,000 bond. He also has an immigration hold on him, according to a report.

We could go back to about March when an Illegal killed 4 kids when she hit a schoolbus in Minnesota. Then two days later a Michigan kid was run over and dragged by an illegal here in Michigan.

CHANGE IN SANCTUARY CITY OF AUSTIN

http://patterico.com/2008/01/27/austin-texas-former-sanctuary-city/

1/27/2008
Austin, Texas: Former Sanctuary City
Filed under: Immigration — DRJ @ 12:16 pm
[Guest post by DRJ]

For years, Austin, Texas, was a sanctuary city that did not notify federal immigration authorities when it arrested known or suspected illegal immigrants … but not anymore:

“Immigration agents will set up an office at the Travis County Jail to monitor the status of people booked into the facility.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will likely be stationed in the jail 24 hours a day, seven days a week in coming months, said Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton.

Until recently, federal immigration agents visited the jail occasionally to check the immigration status of inmates. They began increasing their presence in the facility late last year, leading to more immigration holds being placed on Travis County inmates for possible deportation, said Adrian Ramirez, assistant director for ICE’s San Antonio office.

An immigration hold is a legal order that says a jailed person should be released into ICE custody for possible deportation after completing the sentence.”

I suspect cases like Virginia “Jenny” Garcia’s rape and murder by an illegal immigrant (covered by Patterico in this Deport the Criminals First post) had something to do with this decision. The Travis County Sheriff publicly stated that he made this decision to increase public safety:

“Hamilton met with concerned community groups this week and said he decided to allow ICE agents to work out of the jail to improve joint efforts between local and federal law enforcement agencies to increase public safety.

“My contention is that the best way for (undocumented immigrants) to not come under scrutiny is to not commit crimes,” he said.”

Sheriff Hamilton is right and this is a positive development for one of my favorite cities.

Thanks Doug! Heard Danielle on Laura today, and just broke my heart. Then to hear Laura say that Newsom’s website removed the “contact our office” button, my head came close to exploding. We HAVE to take our country back!

Deputies Charge Man with Rape, Assault

http://somd.com/news/headlines/2008/7983.shtml

Posted on July 22, 2008

By Guy Leonard, County Times

HOLLYWOOD, Md. (July 17, 2008) — A man suspected of being an illegal immigrant has been charged with seconddegree rape and second-degree assault in an alleged attack that occurred in the late night hours of July 12, sheriff’s deputies reported.

Investigators with the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations allege that Alvaro Dominguez, 24, a Guatemalan national, raped a female victim after witnessing a gathering at the victim’s home in Lexington Park, which he reportedly tried to join.

Detectives allege that Dominguez, who they said had no fixed address, entered into the victim’s bedroom as she lay sleeping and raped her there.

The victim tried to fight off Dominguez’s alleged assault, charging papers filed in District Court by Detective Charles F. Earle state, and she called for help.

Charging documents state that several witnesses saw the defendant flee the residence following the victim’s cries for help.

Witnesses at the gathering chased Dominguez to a nearby residence when police arrived to make contact with the victim and continue their investigation, charging documents reveal.

Police began a search of the residence and, according to charging documents, found Dominguez hiding under a bed in a back room of the house. Witnesses claimed that Dominguez was the man they saw fleeing the residence where the alleged assault took place, charging documents state.

Detectives found scratch marks on the defendant’s chest and stomach areas after they arrested him and detained him at the Sheriff’s Office, court papers reveal. The scratches found on Dominguez seemed to match the description of defensive wounds the victim told police she had inflicted on her alleged attacker.

Dominguez refused to cooperate with investigators, charging documents state.

This is the second incident in recent weeks where a suspected illegal immigrant has been charged with a major crime.

On June 28, Eddi G. Barrientos-Ibanez was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol after a vehicle crash on Route 235 and Bay Forest Road in Dameron.

Police say Ibanez was the driver of the vehicle in which two people were killed and two others injured.

Police charging documents also state that sobriety tests revealed Ibanez had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood after the crash had occurred.

While Ibanez had an Immigration and Customs Enforcement warrant applied to him, Dominguez did not, according to Lt. Rick Burris commander of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.

“We believe he’s only been in the country for about three weeks,” Burris said, adding that it was now known if this was Dominguez’s first time in the country.

Burris said that despite recent events illegal immigrants have not been a significant source of local crime.

“We haven’t seen a rash of crimes by illegal aliens,” Burris said. “But it’s a concern because communication barriers are significant during the investigation.”

If convicted, Dominguez could receive a 20-year prison sentence for the second-degree rape charge against him. The second-degree assault charge also carries a possible 10-year period of incarceration if Dominguez is found guilty.

Dominguez is currently incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Adult Detention Center.

More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war, study says
February 22nd, 2007
Posted in Border News

Illegal aliens are killing more Americans than the Iraq war, says a new report from Family Security Matters that estimates some 2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the U.S. The group says that number is more than 15 percent of all the murders reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the U.S. and about three times the representation of illegal aliens in the general population.

Mike Cutler, a former senior special agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (the former INS), is a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies and an advisor to Family Security Matters (FSM). He says the high number of Americans being killed by illegal aliens is just part of the collateral damage that comes with tolerating illegal immigration.

“The military actually called for the BORTAC team, … the elite unit of the Border Patrol, to be detailed to Iraq to help to secure the Iraqi border,” Cutler notes. “Now, if our military can understand that Iraq’s security depends in measure on the ability to protect its border against insurgents and terrorists, then why isn’t our country similarly protecting our own borders ?” he asks.

“We are not five and a half years, nearly, after 9/11, and yet our borders remain open,” the Center for Immigration Studies fellow observes. “We have National Guardsmen assigned on the border, but it turns out they are unarmed,” he points out. “Their rules of engagement are very simple : if armed intruders head your way, run in the other direction.”

This situation would “almost be comical if it wasn’t so tragic,” Cutler asserts. “If our borders are wide open, this means that drugs, criminals, and terrorists are entering our country just as easily as the dishwashers,” he says.

The report from FSM estimates that the 267,000 illegal aliens currently incarcerated in the nation are responsible for nearly 1,300,000 crimes, ranging from drug arrests to rape and murder. Such statistics, Cutler contends, debunk the claim that illegal immigration is a victimless crime. “Then we even have another problem,” he adds, “and that’s the Visa Waiver Program.”

The federal government’s Visa Waiver Program enables nationals of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. According to the U.S. State Department website, the waiver program was established in 1986 with the objective of “eliminating unnecessary barriers to travel,” stimulating America’s tourism industry, and allowing the government to focus consular resources in other areas.

Cutler says the U.S. retains the Visa Waiver Program because the nation’s travel, tourism, and hospitality industries want America’s borders wide open. In other words, the former INS official contends, the nation’s security is being compromised in the name of trade.

By the way, nothing has appeared as yet in the LA Times re the Bologna story. Instead, I understand today’s biggie was the story of some white woman “trapped in Tia Juana” and married to an illegal alien ineligible for citizenship but who thought he would get it if he married the American citizen white chick. Supposed to be a real tear jerker...

Great gal, no longer with us. The POS (illegal alien) who raped, murdered, and burned her body was finally caught in Mexico City, and extradited only after the family & the U.S. agreed that the death penalty would not be pursued.
