Great job hosting, as usual, NR. Purrcival out. Time to go get something to eat. Tummy’s rumbling.

The race would have been a bore without the tread plus my team finished 40 - 41 - 42 - 43 or near to it...

Helton said they tested at Indy in March.

Well I was quoting Robin Pembertona, and he must be rewriting history then, because he put forth the official NASCAR line this past week that everything is okay, this is normal, and Goodyear is doing the best they cant.

Quiet for a few minutes here.

Man I sure picked a good race to miss! That was about bunk. I wonder who’s decision it was to not test here?

Smoke will say something , ... his un-TopTen is a direct result of the piss-ass tars

I would hope so, he and Montoya seem to be about the only ones who are willing to speak their minds. Everybody else has a bad habit of toeing the line and parroting what NASCAR says (although Kyle Busch has his moments).

I don't know that anything needs to be said though - clearly the most embarrassing race due to tire problems that NASCAR has had in the past 30 years or so.

Can you imagine watching this with somebody who had never seen NASCAR before and trying to explain today's race to them?

Helton said it in the interview during the race. Also said the track had not been changed (ground down?) since the tests.

GoodShred

GoodGrind

GoodGrater

GoodMayPop

GoodCrap

GoodNoGrip

GoodCordShow

This was really sad.

Just like politics.....some one needs to be fired over this joke.

But no.....and you heard it all day long......"Not Nascar's fault!"........."Not Gooddreg's fault!"

I know, the guy in Seat 9, Row 45, Section 5.....must be his fault.

ok, /rant off.

And I do feel better! :)

This is all I've been able to find so far on testing:

"Goodyear has scheduled a NASCAR tire test at IMS for April 22-23"

http://www.racegoodyear.com/news/0724082.html

Notes: This is the first time Goodyear has brought this tire set-up to Indianapolis Motor Speedway . . . this combination of left- and right-side codes was selected after a tire test with Kurt Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brian Vickers at the Speedway on April 22-23 . . . the chief tire issue expected this weekend is expected early in practice as teams put down a layer of rubber on the abrasive racing surface . . . as typically seen on the grooved racing surface at Indianapolis, tire wear is expected to be high during the early practice sessions . . . in anticipation of this extreme tire wear situation, teams will have two extra sets of tires for practice and qualifying this weekend (up to eight sets) . . . IMS is the only track at which Sprint Cup teams will run this particular tire set-up this season . . . as on all NASCAR’s ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Indianapolis . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

Have you ever seen tars turn to powder as opposed to actually sticking to the track or coming off as marbles?

I just don’t see how they can run these heavy cars on this track. It is just not designed for it. Maybe they need to slow the cars down. I never liked this track and to me Pocono is worse.
