THE DALAI Lama came to town, and I went to see him. After all, how often do you get to see a world figure, a Nobel Peace Prize winner? I saw his holiness at the majestic Kimmel Center, the perfect setting for such a holy man. --snip-- The angry murmur that went through the crowd when His Holiness proclaimed his love for George Bush was the exact opposite reaction you think you'd get from a bunch of peace-loving folk

We've met the man on several occasions. Let me say this, from what I know of him, what I've seen, what I've heard, he is incredibly consistent ~ not just with his belief system, but also with his experiences, and with the needs of his followers.
I'm glad he says he likes "W". So do I. Folks who don't like "W" are fundamentally evil.

It would be nice to actually read a transcript of what the Dalai Lama said. Unfortunately this is just some letter that somebody wrote claiming the Dalai Lama said something positive about Bush.

The Dalai Lama is a sort of cult figure for left wing losers. No surprise that they don’t measure up to his religiosity.

"So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin' for me, which is nice."

As President it may be a good diplomatic gesture to meet with the Dalai Lama to discuss China, but as a candidate this trip does nothing for McCain. Not one single solitary vote will be gained by this visit.

You gotta love a man of principle. I’m talking about the Dali Lama here and hopefully GW.
