Iran has up to 6,000 uranium centrifuges: Ahmadinejad

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that Iran has boosted the number of uranium-enriching centrifuges to up to 6,000, in an expansion of its nuclear drive that defies international calls for a freeze.

"Today they (the West) have agreed that the existing 5,000 to 6,000 centrifuges do not increase and that there is no problem if this number of centrifuges work," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by state radio.

Ahmadinejad said in April that Iran was working to install 6,000 more centrifuges at an underground hall in a plant at its nuclear facility in Natanz, where it already had 3,000 running.

http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20040522/news_1n22uranium.html

Excerpt near bottom of article concerning 500 tons of Uranium U.S. found in Iraq:

"Of the uranium, 500 tons is naturally occurring ore or yellowcake, a slightly processed concentrate that cannot be directly used in a bomb. Some 1.8 tons is classified as low-enriched uranium, a more potent form but still not sufficient for a weapon.

Thomas B. Cochran, director of the nuclear program at the Natural Resources Defense Council, said the low-enriched version could be useful to a nation with nuclear ambitions.

"A country like Iran," Cochran said, "could convert that into weapons-grade material with a lot fewer centrifuges than would be required with natural uranium."

Well, that’s OK then... since, you may recall, Iran won’t have the capacity to produce bomb-grade material until they reach a level of 3,000 operational centrifuges...

Er,... uh,...

oooooopppppsssssss!

KaaaaaaaaaaaaaBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!!

(ah, well...)

Imagine a scratchy cheap non FM speaker in a building with the voice of Ruth Buzzy saying the following:

Paging all IAF pilots, will you please come to the changing room and put on flight suits and go sit in your planes, Thank You....

Ah yes, that infamous NIE written by liberals for liberals. You will love this link.

NEI: No nuclear weapons in Iran (12/3/07)

“We judge with high confidence that in fall 2003, Tehran halted its nuclear weapons program...A growing amount of intelligence indicates Iran was engaged in covert uranium conversion and uranium enrichment activity, but we judge that these efforts probably were halted in response to the fall 2003 halt, and that these efforts probably had not been restarted through at least mid-2007.
The National Intelligence Estimate report issued today, Iran: Nuclear Intentions and Capabilities, concludes that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program four years ago. Is this a another case of Bush and Cheney justifying their war mongering through a distortion of intelligence information, a la the WMD’s that supposedly existed in Iraq?

Remember pro-war candidate John McCain changing the words to the Beach Boys’s “Barbara Ann on April at a Murrells Inlet, SC VFW post in April as reported by the Georgetown Times?

Bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran

Remember Mr. Bush talking about WWIII at his October 17 press conference?

So I've told people that, if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon.

Remember Mr. Cheney telling the Washington Institute for Near East Policy on October 21,

The Iranian regime needs to know that if it stays on its present course, the international community is prepared to impose serious consequences. The United States joins other nations in sending a clear message: We will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.

It will be interesting in the days ahead to see who changes their tune. I'm not holding my breath.

And the Democrats are not exonerated. Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton voted along with with many others September 26 on a non-binding resolution Amendment 3017 to the 2008 Defense Department approariation, designating the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization. Clinton explained in a press statement,

The Revolutionary Guards are deeply involved in Iran's nuclear program and have substantial links with Hezbollah.

Hillary said that she wasn't in favor of going to war in Iran. But the other Democratic candidates voted against the measure, saying that it could be used for the Bush Administration for that purpose. And Jim Webb (D-VA) said, according to a NYT’s story on the measure's passage, regarding an earlier version that it”

Now this country with a significant number of weak minded liberals is about to vote in a weak minded empty suit to be POTUS. Well, since you European loving liberals like to talk, I suggest you and your Euroweenie brethren had better start talking faster and faster because Iran/Israel are set to meet under some rather unpleasant circumstances.

It’s pretty obvious that Iran is not going to stop, as they are flushed in oil money (unlike N. Korea). There is only one solution to this problem, but the US and world will not do it.

Iran wants a war.....their leaders have been pushing for it for years. They are a war like nation and we and the rest of the world sit back and watch. The best thing that could happen is to have them drop a big one on Europe. That would wake those people up. I’d hate to see it but it would work. If our country takes on Iran, we need to do it from the air. No boots on the ground and don’t rebuild their country. Warn their people of this and let them do what they will.

I dunno...if we have troops in a certain country aiding certain freedom fighters to overthrow their current government...it’s not something you want readily known. And if this is the case, God speed, I’m all for it.

Simple solution. Drop one ‘bomb’ for every centrifuge.
