There’s one sure way to find out. And this group provides an excellent opportunity.

If the country does, theirs is the chance to accomplish immediate good for a large number of people.

If the country doesn’t, it is a good opportunity to parachute other similar purveyors of international good in to organize and lead protests.

Sounds like win-win for the US.

"Liberals are just weird."

We had a family reunion this weekend. My family, and two families of cousins, their spouses, children etc... All in all, about 50 people. I was talking with my brother-in-law about war movies, new and old classics. His kids had borrowed my WWII classics, They Were Expendable, To Hell and Back, The Enemy Below, and a few others. I had mentioned to my B-I-L the HBO Special "Generation Kill" (I had only seen a couple of episodes) and that I thought it was pretty interesting and despite it's title and the writer's background, what I had seen was pretty fair. Well, a cousin's spouse (fellow in his late 40s I had just met an hour earlier) had been hanging around and decided to chime in on the Iraq war and started asking how I would feel about "sending my child off to a war that we had no business being in..."

My brother-in-law and I just kind of looked at each other and then I turned to my cousin's husband and gave him a wink, patted him on the shoulder and said, "I've got to check on those burgers, I think their done. What do you say you go and round up some hungry kids, huh?"

Sheesh, too nice of a weekend to deal with liberals.

Which had nothing to do with the topic you were discussing with your brother-in-law. Yeesh. Those liberals will find any excuse to start spewing their leftist views. I think they think it makes them look cool or something.

You handled it well. I've been in a couple of situations at home in large gatherings where a liberal will single me out and make a point to find me and start spouting anti-war garbage at me in the guise of asking questions. I usually do about the same as you did - find a way to politely extract myself and move on to another area.
