Life is full of disappointments.
Early Friday, I went to the Real Clear Politics Web site, as I do every morning, for my fix of political news and commentary. I perked up when I saw the third entry on the list of that days notable articles No. 44 Has Spoken.
Hank Aaron has spoken? Wow, I thought as I clicked through.
Nope. The article was by Gerhard Spörl, the chief editor of Der Spiegels foreign desk. No. 44 didnt refer to the uniform number of the man some of us still consider the true all-time major-league home-run champion. It referred to the next president of the United States. The articles premise was that an Obama victory is a foregone conclusion: Anyone who saw Barack Obama at Berlins Siegessäule on Thursday could recognize that this man will become the 44th president of the United States.
So it wasnt Hank Aaron speaking. It was just another journalist fawning over Obama. That was a disappointment. But disappointment was quickly replaced by the healthier emotion of annoyance.
Nicht so schnell, Herr Spörl, I thought, drawing on what Obama would consider my embarrassingly limited German. Not so fast.

I have noticed that the search function on this site is not working very well. I was going to post something yesterday, but could not search, so I just forgot about it, lest I get cross ways with the Thread Police.
Hold your nose if you have to, but vote for McCain. Friends won’t let friends vote 3rd party. Same sex marriage and abortion referenda in several states. Vote for pro life Senators. Pray.
Whatever you say, boss.
But...but...aren't the thread police here to protect and serve us? And they're even volunteers. We should be ever so grateful! ;-)
Obama handler: So, Mr.Spörl, them chances of getting a good op-ed piece outta your rag are about 100 to 1?
Spörl: More like 500 to 1.
Obama handler: Done! (glances over his shoulder) Tony! Pay da man. Mr.Spörl...it's been a pleasure doin' business witch ya. Come,Tony, we have another appointment.

We should be grateful they are here and off the streets, telling people how and where to park their cars, to wear socks, and to keep moving up each time the line shortens.
;-)
I thought they were talking about John Riggins.
re: Search engine works fine, if you know how to use it
One of the features of a good product is that it does what its users need it to do and expect it to do. Doesn’t matter how powerful or great it is if there’s something about it that keeps it from doing what it’s supposed to do.
It would be interesting to know how this person tried the search and what the results were. Chances are you are exactly right, it was operator error, but that’s not always the case.
Just to be clear, in case you were referring to me, I don't intend to be the "Thread Police"...I just thought that since there hadn't been any replies to it yet, it might be good to just point to the other one that was active already, so discussion would be consolidated.
