Thought this was interesting, from the Powerline blog:
“In a recent National Journal anonymous poll of three dozen Republican congressmen and senators, Eric Cantor received the second-highest number of votes — behind only Mitt Romney — for whom they would like as McCain’s veep pick. When Bush spoke in Israel this May, the influential Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention told several members of the American delegation that he would like to see Cantor as vice president.”

If recent polling is any indication, Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr could make a dent in U.S. Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) vote total in Nevada.
Anjeanette Damon reports that some in the state are touting former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (R) as a vice presidential running-mate, suggesting he could help McCain secure the state.
"Romney is a no-brainer," said Ryan Erwin, a Republican consultant from Las Vegas who advised Romneys Nevada campaign. [...] "Romney takes this state from a slight lean-Republican to a heavy lean-Republican."
