Politics: "I'm trying to save the planet," declares House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which is a lot for one person. Maybe she should just try to save herself from the embarrassment that comes with spouting such inanities.
"I'm trying to save the planet; I'm trying to save the planet," she responded. "I will not have this debate trivialized by their excuse for their failed policy."
If the San Francisco Democrat's magisterial narcissism isn't off-putting enough, her intent should be. She's saying that her importance to the survival of Earth transcends our system of open government, elections and power-sharing. Because she's trying to save the world, she can't be challenged and dissent will not be tolerated.
Pelosi's arrogation of power is not unlike that of the monarchs of old who claimed a divine right to rule. And, just as queens had kings, the speaker has a male imperial sitting on the adjacent throne: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Obstructionism by Reid, D-Nev., who freely uses the trite phrase "we cannot drill our way out of the problem," is also costing Americans at the pump.

I dunno, so far McCain has worked well with democrats ... Kennedy, Feingold, Lieberman, etc.
I do have to agree on one point though, I also think he's a nut-case. It's really too bad we're not fielding a a candidate this election cycle, someone who could/would stop this silliness.

Obviously the most ineffectual speaker in a long time. Yet the American people will reward her and the grating Harry Reid by giving them even bigger majorities. I suppose the people voting Democrat this year will be sure to complain about higher taxes, higher gas prices, more vulnerability to terror attacks, etc. Then somehow they’ll blame Republicans.
She kills the planet with her every action. She harms it with every move.

Rather than just calling Pelosi names on Free Republic posts we need to be encouraging everyone to call every Democrat legislator to let them know we’ve had enough and are prepared to vote them out of office. Thousands of phone calls will cool Pelosi down in a hurry as her fellow Dems start harping on her.

I voted, and a lot of other conservatives voted as well. We were just outnumbered.
The radical left, again thanks to those voters who really showed the Repub party what they thought of them, now has a choke-hold on America that is doing, and will continue to do, major damage to this country.
You should be glad the GOP lost. The Democratic Congress has the lowest approval ratings in history, and more Americans are waking up and realizing just how bad they are. Had the GOP retained Congress, it would have been business as usual and nothing would have gotten done.
And just look ahead to the horrifying possibility of these nutcases teaming with another radical socialist nutcase in the White House who will sell out America in a heartbeat.
Oh noze! Were you one of those people who screamed that the troops were going to come home if the Democrats took over Congress too? Well, they're still there in Iraq, killing terrorists. Bush is still President. There haven't been any impeachment proceedings.
Just imagine how much damage such a “team” will do, and has already said it would do, to America. The Dream Team is coming your way America.
Stop trying to rationalize for the GOP. They deserved to lose in 2006 and being in the minority is the best thing that can ever happen to them again.
