If youre one of the few conservatives in Hollywood, you might be used to keeping your head down and your politics to yourself and hoping for the best.
There are some signs that things are looking up for Hollywood conservatives, however.
Revered playwright and screenwriter David Mamet recently published a sprawling essay in the Village Voice explaining, Why I Am No Longer a Brain-Dead Liberal.
And Robert Downey Jr., the formerly troubled actor turned smash success with the summer blockbuster Iron Man, recently outed himself as, well, something other than a liberal.
I have a really interesting political point of view, and its not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, Downey says. But you cant go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You cant.
I wouldnt wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics ever since.
The Washington Times also recently highlighted a loose-knit group of conservatives and centrists that has quietly been gathering in private homes and restaurants, organized by Forrest Gump actor Gary Sinise.
Of course, one or two positive moves in the direction of ideological diversity isnt about to make a dent in Tinseltowns near-uniform politics.
Just ask Edgar Award-winning crime novelist and screenwriter Andrew Klavan, whos had books and screenplays made into movies by Clint Eastwood and Michael Douglas, among others.
Hes one of the few people in Hollywood whos managed to succeed while openly espousing his conservative politics.
Im a real loud-mouth. Especially after they started making films against the war effort, Klavan told NRO .. I thought it was the wrong thing to do while our guys were in danger, ...."

Missed that .. wonder if I can
find the video. I always swooned
over him (especially in Coming Home),
but he’s now become quite the great
patriot and still swoon-alicious!
YES! Here it is
Oh yes .. thank you !
You're a better person than I.
I would have been much more confrontational in the face of such overt derision.
She’s not liberal, either. They may be estranged, but political orientation is not her problem with her father. She has openly come out in support of the troops and said that Roe v. Wade is not in danger of being overturned regardless of who is elected. She also said that she might vote McCain.
I agree .. worst election of my lifetime,
but this is our current hand. I’ve been
saying for months I have a feeling it may
not be this slate in November .. we shall
see.
Obama is downright dangerous, so we
have no choice. And not voting is not
acceptable.
Put up that sign .. stand up for what’s
right.
Keep the faith ... God is in charge.
Thanks!
I think a couple of those are now questionable; for example, Drew Carey .. and Schwarenegger. Ahnold is not conservative .. he calls himself a Pubbie, but no conservative is he. Too much Kennedy influence.
YOU’D think a burly ex-Marine like Drew Carey would be squarely in John McCain’s camp. But “The Price Is Right” host says he got Barack Obama fever when he correctly bet on the Democratic candidate’s primary victories. “I actually won money on Obama,” Carey told Post Los Angeles correspondent David Finnigan. “I think you should follow the money.”

Well we all know Arnold is a major RINO, but Drew Carey is really more of a libertarian ...wanting government to mind their own business... he’s probably kidding about Obama.. and he couldn’t in good conscience vote for McCain.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for bringing this to light.
Having been an actor FIRED from film sets for saying something that could have been mistaken as “RIGHT WING”, it’s nice to see that I am NOT ALONE. Yes, being an Actor AND a FREEPER is not a common combination, which is why I DON”T WORK MUCH here in NY .. LOL
“they had no other voters in it, just 5 workers”
It sounds like all the workers at the polling place were scum-0-rats. Is that so, and if so, why?
Speaking of conservative stars -Jon Voight was on Mark Levin’s show this evening- if you get a chance- go to http://marklevinshow.com/ and listen to the last 5-10 minutes of tonight’s show to hear him- absolutely inspring.
A couple of them there were just quiet. It was mostly the woman that gave me my ballot and the man that took me to the computer. Just a cold shoulder and more of a tone in the voice rather than anything substantial.
**Jon Voight was on Mark Levins show this evening-**
Always enjoy when he’s on The GREAT ONE’s show.
Maybe with more Conservatives Coming “OUT of the BUNKER”, maybe my career can get a little ... boost! LOL
Voter to child, pointing at poll worker: “Look, honey, this is how democrats act when somebody disagrees with their narrow dogma. They say they believe in tolerance and diversity, but they’re actually the worst bunch of nasty fascist bigots the world has ever seen.”
LOL......good one. It’s true. They hate people like me but the murderers, molesters, etc......they make excuses for them all day long.

And you should have seen the DIVERSE language keyed into my Car TRUNK due to my W sticker... One repainted trunk in ‘00 ... twice in ‘04 .. I just bought a SUBARU to try to BLEND IN .
LOL ... hang in there. I think
the times, they are a-changing .. ;)
