So? What is the oposition between “wide open immigration” and “legal immigration”? It’s quite the confirmation actually. And if he is a native-born Canadian, then the “wide open immigration” is credited with his forefather’s arrival to Canada.

You're just slandering immigrants here. Even moreso than the US, Canada is a nation of immigrants. The fact that a loon like this goes off every once in a while in no way overrides the benefits of immigration for Canada. Chinese immigration has brought a lot of incredibly productive people to Canada. In any event, even with a higher immigration rate over the last few decades, Canada has a much lower crime rate than the US.

It’s funny how someone said “more likely schizophrenic then Muslim”. You know, it’s way more common for Muslims to go out stabbing and beheading people then schizophrenics.

The vast majority of crimes in Canada and the US have nothing to do with religion or politics. Let's not devolve into hyperbole here.

The point and connection I didn't make very well is that the PC mindset that most likely brought this man to Canada (legally or illegally) is the same as we see happening here in the USA.

Canada has a points-based immigration system. In 2007, more than half of all Canadian immigrants fell into the category of skilled workers and their family members.

There don't seem to be many standards in either country for legal immigration (with the possible exception of Caucasians), and of course illegal immigrants enter with no controls whatsoever.

I think it should be mandatory that all violent criminals be tested for drugs when arrested and a study should be done on that. I can’t imagine any other reason. This guy was 40 years old. Somebody that nuts should have been locked up a long time ago.

I speculate that it could easily be both: methamphetamine, mental imbalance and blades go together often.

Here in NZ there is a court case underway now comprising a guy who machine-gunned one victim after using a samurai sword to chop the hands off two other victims. Mental illness, methamphetamine, blade...

And two years ago, on the main street of the town I live in, a guy ran amuck with a knife, stabbed a mate of mine, stabbed and killed another fellow, and withstood several shots from a Glock. He was ultimately tackled by a parking attendant, and eventually escaped a murder charge due to insanity. Mental illness, methamphetamines, blade...

All these people who are hoping the Accused is muslim need to get a grip: there are evil folk out there who aren’t muslim — like the two that I just cited. And like that nut that ran amuck at Virginia Tech.

With a name like Li, I’d speculate Mainland China, recent immigrant. Chinese immigration has been a great thing for Canada, on balance. They tend to make excellent immigrants, they settle in well, and after a generation max they fully assimilate. And they do the same in NZ.
