But C-Span covered the fake hearings the democrats held.
If House Republicans are going to keep this thing going, I’ll drive up to D.C. tonight.
I am operating on what’s left of my memory about the deal back in the early 80s when C-Span coverage was negotiated. I recall (foggily) that the cameras in the House would stay on even as the day’s session ended, so long as Members were speaking, but would go off when the Congress went into a recess like the summer vacation.
You may recall that Newt and others in the minority during the 80s took full advantage of those cameras being on in the evenings after everyone had left .. they would go on and put out their positions to an empty, but C-Span covered, chamber.
Apparently, yesterday Speaker Pelosi closed down the House, went into summer recess, and turned off the lights. I really don’t think this was C-span’s judgment one way or the other. They probably are doing no more than conforming to the terms of their agreement with Congress.
The dem hearings were held while the Congress was in session; however dumba$$ they may have been, they were ‘official business’ during a session of Congress.
