Will Mud Slow Juggernaut That's Obama? (Barf Alert!!!)
IBD Editorials ^ | August 1, 2008 | Eugene Robinson

Posted on 08/01/2008 7:11:13 PM PDT by Kaslin

It's awfully early for John McCain to be running such a desperate, ugly campaign against Barack Obama. But I guess it's useful for Democrats to get a reminder that the Republican Party plays presidential politics by the same moral code that guided the bad-boy Oakland Raiders in their heyday: "Just win, baby."

The latest bit of snarling, mean-spirited nonsense to come out of the McCain camp was the accusation, leveled by campaign manager Rick Davis, that Obama had "played the race card." He did so, apparently, by being black.

On Wednesday, at a campaign stop in Missouri, Obama had predicted that Republicans would try to "make you scared of me. You know, 'he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name,' you know, 'he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.' "

So what does Davis do? He promptly tries to make voters scared of Obama by feigning outrage over the presumptive Democratic nominee's "divisive, negative, shameful and wrong" remarks.

Of course, the McCain campaign isn't really offended that the first black major-party candidate for president in American history might mention this distinction from time to time. The idea is to slow Obama down before he runs away with this thing, and the weapon of choice is handfuls of mud.

Remember St. John the Reformer, who promised a high-minded campaign and said he wouldn't question his opponent's patriotism? Clearly, he's been replaced by an evil twin. The switch seems to have taken place during his opponent's world tour, when Obama's prescriptions for Iraq and Afghanistan began to look prescient — and McCain's began to look irrelevant.

I thought of a great Obama theme song.
It might be called the Jihad Yodel.
It goes something like this. Ahlalalalala ahlalalala ahlalalalala.

I heard it a lot after 9/11. I thought it would be a good campaign song for him.

What do you all think?

How is it mud slinging to make ads that are fundamentally based on Obama’s own words and speeches?

So Robinson, a racist, calls the McCain campaign, "racist," because they claim that statements by Obama, who is a racist, are "racist."

So much for that honest discussion about race that we keep promising to have.

Of course, it wasn't help by the House Resolution apologizing for slavery, which wasn't discussed, nor honest.

OK you stupid liberals:

ACCUSING REPUBLICANS OF TRYING TO SCARE VOTERS BY RACIST REMARKS WHEN THEY SAID NOTHING OF THE SORT IS PLAYING THE RACE CARD!

I know you’re stupid but this is truly pathetic.

Sorry fellow FReepers for the yelling!

Barack is hardly a juggernaut. Barack is driving around in some big, garish, pimped-up political ride and it’s becoming ever more evident and ever more tiresome. I hope he does what other inexperienced folks have done which is to do more and more and MORE and end up totally destroying themselves. Come on, Barry, jump the shark on prime time TV.

“The latest bit of snarling, mean-spirited nonsense to come out of the McCain camp was the accusation, leveled by campaign manager Rick Davis, that Obama had “played the race card.” He did so, apparently, by being black.”

According to the audience in St Pete, FL, blacks didn’t think the Obamanable Snowman was black enough.

It would seem hard to play the ‘race card’ when blacks reject you as not black enough. Not to mention the fact that he was listed as ‘Arab’ on one of his school records.

In any case, Obama unquestionably is not is qualified to be POTUS.

“Will Mud Slow Juggernaut That’s Obama?”

Obama listened to the racist sermons of his mentor reverend wright — sermons drawn from the ‘muddy’ well of ‘black liberation theology’ — and that didn’t seem to slow him down.

Therein is the lie.

In fact, Obama mentioned McCain and Bush by name rather than the generic "Republicans".

Still, had he said just "Republicans", it would have been just as offensive. There's not a single example he could cite where any official or elected office-holder in the party is making Obama's race an issue.

It's just not necessary.
