Financial Times tells us the suicide was by an overdose of pain killer Tylenol. Google informs us that Tylenol is toxic at dosages above 4 grams/day, and doses as low as 10 grams have been lethal. But as a suicide method it takes a few days to have the effect, and the departure from this world is unlikely to be comfortable.

I've never understood why prescription pain killers have to have Tylenol crammed in with them? It's a real dumb but highly lucritive thing to do. It's the narcotic that helps with the pain. Why would you mix in enough tylenol so that if you take enough to stop the pain you end up causing liver and kidney failure. Acetometaphen is hell on the liver. Eight oxycontin in a 24 hour period is 4mg.

I just go to the doctor's office and get a nubane shot or demeral shot. It's efficacy is much more bang for the buck and it saves your liver from all that tylenol. And really folks, if you're in a lot of difficult pain, you should be closely monitored by your doc. That's why they used to keep you in a hospital.

true, except this was prescription only Tylenol with codeine added to it. (I believe it’s called “tylenol 3”)
If that is accurate, I’m guessing the codeine surpressed his respiratory system, and he probably went to sleep and never woke up.
