Norquist wont do it. He prefers to stay in the background where he can remain unknown to the greater conservative movement. He knows his liabilities would make him very unpopular and could cost him the influence he now peddles inside of the Republican Party.
Closer to my last sentence in #112, but perhaps more of a shadow advisor.

Norquist organized a weekly meeting back in the ‘90s. It was supposed to be a who’s who of ‘conservative’ movers and shakers in DC. Of course it allowed him to act as gatekeeper and freeze out any agenda he disapproved of, one of which happened to be addressing the problem of illegal immigration. Norquist is a major amnesty pusher and has been for years.
