Yep. But they'll do that even if the price doesn't go down. They'll claim to have "stabilized" it or some such nonsense...saved it from going even higher under "Bush and his big oil buddies." Thank God for Them.
The longer Pelosi keeps her heels dug in, the less work Republicans have to do to refute her spin. Because America's watching now, and getting a picture of who's who and what's what. A week more of this, especially with mainstream coverage, and the dems can spin all they want, but only their base, the true believers, will buy it.
Ironically, none of this would have happened had Pelosi just let the repubs have their standard 5 minute speeches. Few would have heard them, they'd have been impassioned but toothless, everyone would have gone home to their districts, and the repubs would not now have the spotlight and the buzz. So hopefully, Pelosi won't figure out a face-saving way to cave for awhile. But she will have to, and you can bet the rest of the Dems are working on the spin right now.

But every house member is up and Nancy Pelosi has been out front on NO DRILLING. It just might cost the Democrats the House.
If Landriew is folding can Democrats in the House be far behind in folding their hands. Nancy Pelosi may very well say "Follow Me" and dang few Democrats in the house will follow her.
The problem for Democrats up for reelection this year is most voter only get an image of what is going on. And if they believe the Democratsd are against drilling and drilling starts, then no matter how many Democrats vote for drilling, the Republicans will get all the credit.
Republican Senators and House members are playing this game well. Nancy and Harry are not.

If Landriew is folding can Democrats
I don’t think you can classify Sen. Landrieu as folding as to my knowledge she is and always has been pro oil/gas interest. Oil/gas interest is one of the major life bloods in LA.
Pelosi’s problem is that she is too stupid to know she has lost the argument.
It would be better if they oppose it. It increases their chances of losing.
When democrats had more than enough support to ban off shore drilling then a Democrat Senator can go to Reid and say, "My voters are want drilling. I need to vote against drilling."
And Reid would reply, "I understand ... we have plenty of votes to ban it.. so go ahead and vote to allow drilling. Your vote will not make a difference. Drilling will be banned."
But when the Democrats don't have enough votes and need the vote of every Democrat Senator, Reid will say I NEED YOUR VOTE. Vote against my stand to preventing Drilling and you will earn my wrath!!!
Obviously Landriew has decided to jump ship and defy Reid.
That is the revolt that Landriew is making and she went public before the vote so her voters will know she is in revolt against her party. To pass a new prevent billing law, the current one expires in September, Reid will need 60 votes. He needs and is demanding every Democrat vote. He can not afford to lose even one.
You don't understand how Washington works. What she did in the past doesn't have excrement to do with what is going on now.
Yes, well .. Mary has a lot to make up for. Her actions toward the President after Katrina were appalling - and neither she nor any of the dems in charge in N.O. were willing to admit they bungled the whole evacuation.
I think she can see the writing on the wall. If she doesn’t support this, she will be out of a job.
All done with winking a beady eye, after all. They are frauds and will say WHATEVER to have a shot in these areas. Demonrats are nothing but frauds and enablers which shows they are more of the problem and I hope her opponent exposes Landreau and points to the importance of not giving the Demonrats any more power in those chambers.
