KIGALI (AFP) — France played an active role in the 1994 Rwanda genocide, a report unveiled Tuesday by the Rwandan government said, naming French political and military officials it says should be prosecuted.

The indicting report accused a raft of top French politicians of involvement in the massacres, threatening to further mar relations between the two countries, which severed diplomatic ties in November 2006.

I heard from someone who was there, and barely escaped with his life, that the French had armed the Hutus, and re-armed them after they were driven out in the wake of the genocide.

If I understand this correctly, the Tutsi who now control Rwanda (after slaughtering millions of Hutu with machetes) are now blaming France for their alleged part in the genocide that the Tutsi started when the murdered the Hutu president and sparked the Rwandan Civil War.

Did I miss anything aside from the witchcraft, cannibalism, and baby rape?

2006? So how much longer before they surrender?

France... complicit in mass-murder since 1789. The Vendee massacres against Catholic Royalists, Napoleon's Army massacring Spaniards, Collaboration with the Nazi's Extermination of the Jews and the dirty war in Algeria... add Rwanda to that list.

Think of this next time some French leftist "humanist" berates American's on "peace" and "human rights"...

More like millions of Tutsis being slaughtered by Hutu with machetes. Not saying that the Tutsi have a white vest either.

France armed the Hutus, had to know what was going on, declined to intervene to stop it which amounts to complicity; but it is very unlikely that they in anyway took part.

When Dallaire was begging for help, no one could spare any troops. The French finally intervened, however, to cover the Hutu retreat.

There is a war crimes trial in there somewhere, if anyone wants to go there.

Not directly, but they sent troops to cover the Hutu retreat.

Most Americans are blissfully unaware of what former colonial powers (especially France) are up to in Africa.

I don’t know what the French did in Rwanda, but from my experience (living in Africa), I can tell you that the French are not up to a lot of good.

This is not to say that Africans do not have the Lion’s share of the blame.

If you want to know more about Rwanda get a copy of the video “Shake Hands with the Devil” or read the book.

“If I understand this correctly, the Tutsi who now control Rwanda (after slaughtering millions of Hutu with machetes) are now blaming France for their alleged part in the genocide that the Tutsi started when the murdered the Hutu president and sparked the Rwandan Civil War. “

Your only misconception is the fact that it was the Hutu who slaughtered millions of Tutsi, not the other way around. Kind of a major misunderstanding on your part.

Evidence also suggests that it was Hutu who murdered the president in an effort to foment the violence against Tutsi’s that resulted in the Genocide. You really need to read up on the subject so you understand just who were the good guys and who were the bad guys in Rwanda before you post more on the subject.

I remember listening on a Canadian radio station that I used to get, a summary of this genocidal rampage as it started. The first hand reports were horrificly heart rending.

I would not be surprised if it was found that France was very dirty in this thing. They haven’t ever had a bit of common sense in their African conduct.
