In order for him to lead the group in the Pledge, he would have to know the words; at least the beginning.

His first grade teacher said that she thought it would be nice for the US President to be nostalgic for the call to evening prayers, not a demonstration of loyalty to and love for his country.

Yeah, but Obama first responded that he'd thought the pledge had already been said.
