PETA's beheading ad spurned

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Man. — An animal rights group has tried – and failed – to run a newspaper ad comparing the beheading of a passenger on a Greyhound bus last week to the treatment of animals by the meat industry.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, said on its website it would run the ad in the Portage la Prairie Daily Graphic.

However, city editor Tara Seel said the newspaper had no intention of running the ad, which uses imagery of “an innocent victim's throat” being cut, in reference to the slaughter of cows, chickens and pigs on factory farms.

“His struggles and cries are ignored ... the man with the knife shows no emotion ... the victim is slaughtered and his head cut off ... his flesh is eaten,” reads the ad, which is posted on the website.

PETA never fails to be one of the most loathesome lib groups around. They're trying to get their twisted points across while using the current buzz of a news story about an actual beheading victim. YEESH!

The real head on this story should be, " Newspapers Start Comeback".

It would be more appropriate to compare the way Al Qaeda muslims slashed the throat of Nick Berg to the way that muslims ritually slaughter animals.

But that delivers a politically incorrect message about animal abuse.

Scary how many people were on that bus, yet no one attempted to save this poor man.

Quite the opposite of the heroes on Flight 93.

SICK SICK SICK.

Well, about as sick and twisted as the WBC Phelps spawn who are planning to picket Tim McLean's funeral. Wait, maybe there's a bright side to all the hate speech laws in Canada; perhaps some good Canucks will file charges against the WBC folks for hate speech, and the Mounties will arrest them.

The good folks on Flight 93 had at least time to plan; the folks aboard the Greyhound bus had, well, a psychopath exploding in their midst with no warning.

I just got back from Edmonton earlier this week. It's scary realizing that I was considering taking Greyhound; I ended up flying Air Canada. I probably would have reacted the same way as the rest of the passengers.

Ah but the people on the bus were trying to sleep. This disturbance would keep them from being able to sleep.

The sooner he’s put down, the sooner they can go BACK to sleep.

Generally at least someone will have a blanket or a pillow (with pillowcase) which can be used to bag, bind, or “net” an attacker in such close quarters.

Cover the top of the trunk of the man and start hopping on his jimmies with the heel of your shoe.

He may have more knives or a gun but he’ll be working on some other issues. Subdue the attacker and then disarm him.
