Judge Backs (DNC) Convention Protest Restriction--BARF!

DENVER, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- A federal judge has ruled officials in Denver and with the U.S. Secret Service may limit protesters' access to the Democratic National Convention.

U.S. District Judge Marcia S. Krieger said officials' current plans to restrict protesters at the upcoming convention would not violate demonstrators' First Amendment rights to free speech, the Rocky Mountain News said Thursday.

Among the restrictions planned for the Pepsi Center event on Aug. 25-28 are fenced-in zone in which protesters can demonstrate and a predesignated parade route.

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper applauded the judge's Wednesday ruling, saying such security efforts will help make the political event safe for all attendees.

"With this validation of our plans, we continue moving forward -- focused on making the convention a safe, inclusive and enjoyable event for all," Hickenlooper said.

The News said the judge's ruling stemmed from a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union, which alleged the restrictions violated protesters' right to free speech.

Is anyone speculating on whether or not the ACLU will file a suit against them?

I disagree. The protesters get a parade route that shuts down a big chunk of downtown during the day and a protest site very close to the convention hall. Plus, Recreate 68 has bullied itself into getting the protest venue they wanted, Civic Center Park, between the Capitol and city hall, for their opening protest. That's not enough for them - they wanted to be within shouting distance of the delegates to harass them.

That’s all well and good, but trying to fence in the animals on the far left (e.g.,the nutroots and the recreate 68 crowd) will be an exercise in futility.

Denver’s going to burn. Bet on it.

The demonstrators maintain that the First Amendment protects the throwing of feces and urine at others as an expression of free speech. The court has disagreed.

Actually the Democrats attending the convention have a freespeech right the ACLU and their running dog lackeys were seeking to have crushed by mob action.

I'm quite happy the courts did not see fit to add the weight of government action to this attempt to crush democracy.

Now we'll get to see the Democrats themselves make fools of each other. I assure you they need no help from a bunch of commie pigs in doing that.

Hopefully the GOP will not stifle free speech of protesters and their convention in St. Paul.

Shouting distance isn't close enough. They want to stand at the top of the podium. That is the goal line.

And these are the people ranting about the demonstrators in China not being allowed to disrupt the games.

I love the smell of hypocrisy.

They may be satisfied if they can get with in throwing distance.
