Who is Richard Land?

And I’d be appalled if Palin agreed to hit the 24/7 campaign trail in pursuit of the 24/7 job of VP. ANY infant deserves better mothering than that, and especially an infant with a serious disability.

Any infant deserves better parenting than that, especially one with a disability. I’d be just as critical of Palin being VP if she were a man abandoning an infant to campaign. Until your kids are older, someone shouldn’t be running for a national office. Kids need a stable, two-parent home to thrive.

VP is a 24/7 job now? When did this happen?

Arguably, VP is a less stressful job than governor of Alaska--with more free time.

Mega bump. FWIW I got flamed for blasting Palin who returned to work a few days after giving birth. Some idiot bots were applauding her work ethic and weren’t too happy being reminded that she just became a Mom.

VP is no more 24/7 than governor. Would you have her step down from that post, too? She returned to work as governor shortly after Trig was born, but was able to bring him to work with her.

Do you have any idea of the perks that come with high office? They allow the individual, Palin or anyone who holds the position, more time to be with their children than the mother who holds down an office/plant job.

Some people are able to do two things very well simultaneously. Palin doesn’t need mothering advice from Keyboard Kommandos.

Part of being a real conservative is respecting others' rights to raise their kids as they see fit. If I were Palin, I'd say to you: "I tell you what. I won't tell you how to raise your kids or use the government to tell you how to raise your kids, and you don't tell me how to raise mine."

I've no doubt that over the centuries, quite a lot of excellent leaders with excellent values were raised by nannies and at boarding schools. They didn't have people around to shame them for improper parenting. This child-focused American society we live in now, however, is I think going to lead to many disillusioned adults; and it's no wonder that so many grown kids are moving in with their parents. Not that there's anything wrong with that ... I don't tell people how to raise their kids. Mind your own family your way, let Palin mind hers her way, and assess her merits on more pertinent things -- like how much of an advocate she is or is not for small, limited government.
