The flaky filmmaker for whom John Edwards risked his political future and his family is a former "party girl" who went from narcotics to nirvana.
Rielle Hunter's résumé also includes actress, producer, New Age blogger - and now, home wrecker.
A Florida native, the 44-year-old divorcée grew up in a well-to-do household but is now deep in debt, a source told The Post.
Hunter, born Lisa Druck, first turned up in New York in the 1980s, where she hooked up with novelist Jay McInerney.
"She used to be a real party girl," he told Page Six. "When she wasn't out at nightclubs, she was taking acting classes.
"We dated for only a few months, but in that period I spent a lot of time with her and her friends, whose behavior intrigued and appalled me to such an extent that I ended up basing a novel on the experience." It was called "Story of My Life."
In 2005 she caught the eye of her soon-to-be politico paramour at the Regency Hotel bar. She was out with a group, drinking "like an old cougar fool," a source said. "She's an idiot, a fool, a moron, a faux guru, but not mean-spirited."
A year later, Edwards' political action committee paid $100,000 in a four-month period to a newly formed company run by Hunter, although she had virtually no experience making campaign films, ABC News reported. Hunter directed production of four Web videos showing the presidential wannabe in supposedly candid moments as well as delivering a public address on morality.

The trashing of Rielle Hunter didn’t take long at all.
This always intrigued me. All of the women Clinton fooled around with were trashed in the most demeaning ways, but it was always couched as a reflection of THEIR character. Nothing much was said about Clinton’s judgment in consorting with such so-called “sleazy, trashy” women.

Now comes the discrediting effort.
But, she KEPT the baby. Didn’t abort. Still saw Edwards.
Do you want to tell me that a man continues an affair with a pregnant woman when he has a political career on the line if that baby’s not his? Has her live close to him? Runs from reporters? Looks sad and angry in pictures?

Heard editor of NE yesterday on some show saying that there were more meetings of Edwards/Hunter than the one in July; did Edwards ‘immediately’ call Elizabeth after those meetings too?
Doesn't seem to be any evidence of that statement where "poor" Elizabeth Edwards is concerned. Some other spouse, maybe, but not Elizabeth! She "stands by her man" just like other good spouses in the political world.

Its a shame the missus is no shape to take this cheating a-hole thru the cleaners.
She actually was more venomous in her released statement than have been any of the stand-by-your-man types I can think of.
Considering she wasn’t ‘stand up’ enough in her accusations to make them directly, I think she’s actually set back the political cuckoldress standard the other aggrieved wives have set.

I kept thinking that somehow someone screwed up in the layout dept. and had Camilla’s photo there when it belonged to another story.
She looks quite haggard.
Interesting how she is being “thrown under the bus and backed over a few times” for good measure.
Edwards is now being declared so honest and honorable for admitting to his “mistake.”

I dunno. Have you had a good look at most 40 something women lately? Trust me, she’s in the top 10% looks-wise. And you have to figure that the Silky Pony has probably had lot of opportunities for hanky-panky with women a lot younger than her. Of course, judging from the photos released a few weeks ago, John Edwards is no John Kerry.
Edwards is amoral scum, always has been. Which should just about guarantee him a meteoric rise in the Democratic party.
