He could also win the election if he loses some of those, but flips a state like Pennsylvania or Michigan, although I think that is a much tougher path. So, lets concentrate on the swing states.
Although the results are mixed, there are recent polls out there in every one of the states listed that shows McCain leading. At the very least, he is well within striking distance in every single one of them.
Anyone arguing there isn't a plausible roadmap for a McCain EC victory isn't paying close enough attention, IMHO.
Looking at voter demographics and the primary result, I’d add New Hampshire to the “swing” or “flip” column. A few of the states depend on who McCain picks as his running mate, probably more than in any recent election. Lieberman won’t cut it, IMO, unless McCain’s real goal is to lose this thing.
Go figure.
Until GWB no Republican had ever won the White House without Pennsylvania. PA's recent history as a Blue State is not a given from here on.
McCain should stop his ridiculous attempts to swing Latinos in California. This is only pissing his base off, and CA is a state he will never, ever win. If he wants to push energy independence, he should come here to tell people in PA he intends to put Federal money into drilling for natural gas and mining for coal in the Keystone State. Oil aint the only American resource that we should be eager to exploit, and the heavily Catholic coal region is one of the Democrat areas that McCain can flip.
Indiana has voted GOP for president for 40 years.
