Ah but your a woman. Of course you would want men held accountable if they cheat on their wives. I don’t think men ought to cheat on their wives. I just don’t think politicians’ private love lives ought to be campaign issues.

Come to think of it, this sort of thing never really was an issue until we started letting women vote. That’s just one more reason why we should have never gone there.

Who cares? When are we going to get over our fascination with who people are having sex with?

LOL. You mean those people like Edwards who was the VP nominee in 2004, was a among the top three Dem presidential candidates in 2008, was scheduled to have a major speech at the Dem convention, and who was considered a candidate for a role in an Obama administration, perhaps as a cabinet secretary?

Yeah, it is just some purile fascination with sex that attracts us to the Edwards affair. It is always just about sex with the Dems, just like Clinton. Move along, nothing to see here. It is just a private matter.

"Financial crimes for one thing. And he was rumored to be considered for AG. I think that matters.

Ditto that. Edwards paid $114K for four two minute videos? He did not. He paid $114 to keep his mistress nearby and to keep her quiet, and he paid it from his 527 committee, One America. Aside from the obvious federal election law violations, this sounds like wire fraud to me.

Check out one of these $114K video gems here, and ask yourself does this pass the smell test; would a jury buy it?

“As before,
It is not their “Love Life” that is our concern

It is their lying about it repeatedly, and publically...”

What bugs me is that we even ask about it. When asked questions like that I think all politicians should just respond that they do not answer questions about their love lives.

Exactly.

Well, I don’t think women should cheat on their husbands, either, to be fair.

I particularly find a man cheating on a terminally ill wife with two kids, a woman who has been very supportive of him, especially despicable.

I think integrity is integrity. I don’t want a jerk like that being our representative to the world. Bill Clinton made me embarrassed to be an American. I think we can do better than that. It’s a big country, and there are many good men living here.

Maybe my dad gave me bad advice.

Hmmm... Complex response
The original harm of all sin is to the sinner
All other harms are an extension of this central harm

Lying about the sin compounds it
The harm to self is compounded,
as well as the harm to others.

Perhaps the spouse may never “Forgive and Forget”
Perhaps the family may break
Is not teaching lying a greater harm
Is not teaching to be dishonorable a greater error

These are thoughts to ponder

He's a public figure. The man ran for President. It's not a personal matter.

It speaks clearly to his judgment and his integrity, both material to his performance in elected or even appointed office.

Secondly, from a political perspective, mark Foley wasn't a private matter, the toe tapper wasn't a private matter, Vitter wasn't a private matter.

It's only a private matter when it's a democrat, is that it? I say NUTS!

Drape this around the necks of the Democraps like an Albatross!

This would be both truthful and honorable

Even if he picked up a woman in a bar, began an affair and then came up with some phony job on his campaign staff, and used over $100K in campaign donations to pay for her "services?" Do you think that having a clandestine affair opens one up to blackmail and presents a security risk for a government official? The point is that their "love lives" are not private if they are a public persona, especially if you are running for President of the United States or are a candidate for a high government position.

Men shouldn't cheat on their wives. I agree with that entirely. Edwards doesn't need to be holding political office either. I agree with that. I'm just not concerned with who he sleeps with, nor am I particularly surprised or concerned that any man would deny having an extramarital affair. There are plenty of other reasons not to like Edwards.

I never cared about Clinton sleeping around either and was less embarrassed by the fact that he did it than I was at how big of a deal we made out of it. The world was laughing at us.

You know what? I disagree and I'm never going to change my mind on this. I don't think a politician’s love life ought to be a campaign issue unless he's sleeping with the enemy, and I'm not going to ever get all worked up about a politician falsely denying an affair because I think most men would do the same. I don't care if we are talking about a Democrat or a Republican, we don't need to be going into their love lives.

In that case he is breaking campaign fund law.

Blackmail however is only possible if the affair can be used to force unlawful, or dishonorable behavior. If the "Truth Comes Out", just admit it and pull the stinger of the extortionist. Speaking the truth is an extraordinarily powerful weapon. Acting Honorably is a greater force however.

How about politicians using campaign money to hush up an affair?

STAY TUNED!

It’s bad enough these politicians make laws that affect all of us, yes iuncluding moral laws such as infidelity, divorce, and marriage.

Why they’re not held to AT LEAST the same standard as the rest of us, is beyond me!

They run for office saying they know how to lead and make laws for the rest of us, getting paid 6 figures to merely blabber about the 2 Americas and now this... good grief what a monumanetal hypocrat!

Yeah, there are 2 Americas all right, the ruling class held to ZERO standards and the rest of us!

What if they do it under oath, before a federal judge?

Pigeon O’Brien: “The affair began long, long, long before she was hired to work for the campaign almost half a year before she was hired to work on those videos.”

Pigeon O’brien said Hunter told her it was at this New York City Hotel in late February, early March, 2006, that she had met quote “An amazing man from North Carolina named John.”

Hunter herself has not spoken out. She is said to be in seclusion in her Santa Barbara mansion.

Reports say her stay there is being paid by Edwards presidential campaign.

And the National Enquirer said the hotel meeting was not their first.
