Matthews Emotes Over Obama's Central Planning Commercial

Chris Matthews: Back With an Obamania Vengeance . . .

If Barack Obama makes it to the White House, perhaps he should appoint Chris Matthews Commissar of Gosplan, the Commission charged with developing the economy's Five Year Plans. The Hardball host, back from vacation, displayed the enthusiasm of a dutiful apparatchik in praising an Obama ad that was in turn a pitch for central planning.

During the "ad wars" segment on this evening's Hardball, Matthews first played a McCain ad that hit Obama over his plans to raise taxes and his lack of readiness to lead. After Andrea Mitchell suggested that the ad is "the wrong tone for the [NBC] Olympics," during which it's playing, Matthews wondered whether McCain is "the Grinch that stole the Olympics." Matthews suggested a "taste test," comparing Obama's ad. Here's the ad's text:

VOICEOVER: The hands that built this nation can build a new economy. The hands that harvest crops can also harvest the wind [images of electricity-generating wind turbines.] The hands that install roofs can also install solar panels. The hands that build today's cars can also build the next generation of fuel-efficient vehicles. Barack Obama: a new vision for our economy. Fast-track alternative fuels. Create five million jobs developing home-grown energy technologies. Because America's future is in our hands.

Yep, let’s take a page from the Communists and set up contiunous five year plans that go nowhere.

Let’s call one “The Great Leap Forward”. Let’s show how progressive we are and stage a “Cultural Revolution”.

He could be like that guy Saddam had working for him.

“America is not in Baghdad. Iraq is crushing the Americans who are not here”.

What garbage!

I saw that ad and wondered: “whose hands are currently making roofs and building cars? These are the same hands that will, in Obama’s fantasy world, be installing solar panels and building electric cars — that’s not 5 million NEW jobs... that’s hopefully 5 million converted jobs. The same way Henry Ford converted buggy makers into auto workers.

The other wonderful moment on the Matthews show was Chris recalling the George Allen Maccaca misspeak. Apparently this is the 2 year anniversary of one of Chris’ favorite moments cooked up by his buddies at the WaPo.

What slime!

Sigh. Another election, and another media smear that Republicans are “the Grinch”. Been this same juvenile taunt since the media went bats**t over Newt Gingrich and the Contract With America.

But it is paranoia and fear mongering to point out that there is a culture war afoot to restrict or eliminate the traditions of this country including Christmas. It has been expanded to a whole list of holidays that are wrong to publicly celebrate now. Add Labor Day to that list (in favor of Eid) thanks to Tyson Foods. Also heard that Michelle Obama doesn’t give the kids birthday gifts and that the whole Obama family “shares” one Christmas gift. She’s also on record saying that our history and our traditions must change.

There is a Grinch in this election alright...

If Barry loses, my guess is that Mathews will need a straitjacket and a lot of heavy meds to get him off air.

Another good possibility is that both he and Olbermann will probably get their rear ends canned for saying something real stupid on election night.

Thanks for the post, glgb.

Back in the ‘70s, I was getting a degree in city and regional planning. One of my professors was a refugee from Czechoslovakia. He was quite bright and had four PhDs and a law degree. In the urban planning class, he recited this mantra hndreds of times during the semester, “All planning is done in the name of the state”. I don’t think he realized just how much we laughed at him.

At the same time, I was taking a Russian government class in the poly sci department. We studied the Soviet “gosplans” especially in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors. All of them were abject failures. Still, the apparatchiks kept writing them each and every year and each and every year the plans always fell short. They never learned.

One would think the dhimmicrats in the US would learn something about this.

Don’t you understand? It’s not that socialism doesn’t work. It’s just that it hasn’t been applied properly ;-)

It’s funny, and fascinating, watching the media try to give Obama and other Democrats direction and “pointers” on what they should be doing and saying.

I heard Andrea Greenspan just this morning lamenting something or another that “Obama must do” if he is going to win in November. He just needs to listen to the media and Presto! Election won!
