Edwards Took Mistress on 2006 Presidential Announcement Tour
By Garance Franke-Ruta
Well, you gotta give him one thing: the man has chutzpah.
Photographs distributed by wire services and posted online by technology blogger Robert Scoble show that former North Carolina senator John Edwards took his mistress Rielle Hunter with him on the plane during his late 2006 presidential campaign announcement tour. As can be seen in this Dec. 28, 2006 photo (that's Hunter in the jeans and jester hat, as can be seen more clearly in this side-profile photo), Hunter stood off to the side of the national press corps filming Edwards as the former Democratic vice presidential nominee announced his second bid for the presidency in New Orleans.

Edwards said in a statement that his romance with Hunter ended in 2006. "With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then," he said.
His wife, Elizabeth Edwards, added in a statement posted on liberal blog Daily Kos, "John made a terrible mistake in 2006.... we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007."
Edwards announced his presidential bid on Dec. 28 in New Orleans. His wife did not accompany him on the trip there.

In his public confession he indicated it happened during a time of inflated ego. That it was a mistake.
So why is he still spending time in a hotel with this woman.
Thanks to technology blogger Robert Scoble. Thanks for posting Ganymede.

Fred Baron, the Man Who Moved John Edwardss Mistress
Baron, the former president of the American Trial Lawyers Association, made his name as a plaintiffs lawyer, largely representing victims of asbestos exposure and other alleged toxins. He left Baron & Budd in 2002. Budd took a ton of heat for a memorandum that in 1997 was mistakenly handed over to opposing counsel. According to this story from 2001 in the Dallas Observer, the 20-page memo instructed these mostly elderly workers never to testify that they saw warning labels on asbestos packages or knew it was dangerous and gave firm directions on how to testify about their exposure to asbestos products in ways to make their cases better. Budd claimed the memo was the handiwork of a rogue paralegal.

This shouldn’t be a surprise whatsoever. She was hired to make a campaign video, wasnt she? So, I can see why she was there.

Along with “Who’s the daddy?” one big unanswered question in the John Edwards affair is: Who ratted him out to the National Enquirer?
John Edwards still scheduled to speak at Massachusetts college in midst of scandal

Salem State College in Massachusetts is still expecting John Edwards and his wife to make an appearance at the school next month, despite the scandal surrounding his extramarital affair.
The school said the couple is coming to speak about Elizabeth Edwards’ battle with cancer, and it doesn’t want to get involved in any moral issues.

Mrs. Edwards wrote on ABC’s blog that “Republicans scare me.”
From what I have now seen of her (and her complicity in the coverup), her level of denial and disconnection scares me.
I think she is lying about it. Either way she isn’t any better than her husband. It was all about getting elected one way or the other and power.
“...one big unanswered question in the John Edwards affair is: Who ratted him out to the National Enquirer?”
I’ve been in enough press corps to know that a traveling circus (like the one following a candidate) knows a lot more than they’re willing to report.
For instance, the NASCAR press corps knew about an extramarital affair long before it was blown open by an angry driver a couple of years ago (you’ll notice that he’s pretty much out of a ride ever since?).
The truth is that the press will report a lot of things, but it won’t kill the thing that they’re reporting. Otherwise, if they reported this, they’d be back in the cubicle city at the NYTimes or WAPost instead of trying for their Pulitzer.
