I’d like to mention as a reminder that if any member of your family is ever brought to a hospital in an unconscious state, be very sure that the oxygen they are being given has been warmed.
Cold oxygen, especially through a nasal tube, has been linked with progressive brain damage in some situations, that could turn a recoverable state into an extended or permanent coma. It flows right past a major artery, and can significantly cool blood flowing to the brain.
Yet at the same time, be aware that under some circumstances of cardiac arrest and stroke, brain cooling can prevent damage. So the best advice is to talk to the doctor about it as soon as possible. If they have no idea what you are talking about, it would be wise to get a second opinion immediately.
It can be a situation where minutes matter.
