What these peons fail to grasp was the wisdom of Red Cloud. After he was read the Bible he said “I don’t know if these storeies happened but I know that they are TRUE”. An illiterate aboriginie got the message that people who have spent their whole lifes in school completely miss.

Sounds like PBS is following Red Cloud in recognising that a culture's origin myths don't have to be historically accurate to represent the beliefs an aspirations of the culture.
