With the details of the subject matter in the headline, the "Spolier Alert" could have just as well been Drudge's siren.
Again, one should know better than to hop on the 'net if one wants to ensure a complete blackout of info, but, if one wanted to get the info, one could go to a sports site.
I'm not saying that it should not have been posted on FR, just that it could have been done in a more surreptitious manner.
Is there something wrong with posting the latest news from the Olympics?
That is why most people avoid them while waiting for coverage. FReepers should know better. Most do.

IMO, yes. None of this has aired for the west coast.
Gee whiz, then stay off the internet, because the news is all over the net.
If you put the freakin’ result in the HEADLINE, the word “spoiler” just before it doesn’t do much good.

How are they going to be able to do that if you're going to provide crucial details in the HEADLINE?
If FReepers are anxious to know the results, they are smart enough to know where to go to get them.
My suggestion to you would be that rather than provide critical details in the Header, you provide them in the comments section of your post.
Now, I know all this "lecturing" is not gonna make any difference because tomorrow there will be another inconsiderate clod that will come along and do the same thing.
It's been happening here for 11 years and it's not gonna stop now.
‘ya know, putting the words Spoiler Alert right next to the actual spoiler really doesn’t help much. Since the next word was Phelps, your brain can’t help but register the info while you try to try to avert your eyes. Sigh.....

Hopefully you’ve figured it out by now, but for awhile it seemed that you were being aggressively ignorant about netiquette, so I’ll recap.
The way you should do what you want to do is to place a “Spoiler Alert” in the headline, where you DON’T reveal results. Then people who want to can click on the thread and get the actual data.
You are trying to defend what is indefensible. You were rude and inconsiderate to those of us on the West Coast by posting the results in the HEADLINE, which your eye cannot help but register and pass right on to your brain.
And I totally believe you that you did not add “spoiler alert” yourself. Obviously, you did not even have that much consideration for your fellow FReepers.
