Decade has had fewest 90-degree days since 1930 (Chicago)
Chicago Tribune ^ | August 13, 2008 | Tom Skilling

August is the wettest and often the muggiest month of the year. Yet, summer heat continues in short supply, continuing a trend that has dominated much of the 21st Century's opening decade. There have been only 162 days 90 degrees or warmer at Midway Airport over the period from 2000 to 2008. That's by far the fewest 90-degree temperatures in the opening nine years of any decade on record here since 1930.

This summer's highest reading to date has been just 91 degrees. That's unusual. Since 1928, only one year—2000—has failed to record a higher warm-season temperature by Aug. 13.

Liberals will ignore the facts and crow about “global warming” in spite of evidence to the contrary. That is because liberalism is a disorder of the thinking apparatus.

Speaking of hot air, when was the last time Algore was in Chicago?

It’s funny. Back in May we had HOT here in Detroit. So much that I went and bought a pool.

Now it’s not 90 degrees and people are freaking. It was hot in May. That’s just how it goes.

We just have to let Al Gore and trusty old Doc Hansen massage that data with NASA's Magical Mystery Temperature Adjustment Algorithm and we will then discover that 2008 was the hottest year on record and unless we give them all our money, we are doomed!

My wife made the remark yesterday morning that she was wearing long pants, all the windows were open and it was mid-August. She said if this was Global Warming fire up the SUV’s. We spent most of June and most of August sitting outside on the patio in the evening enjoying the pleasant low humidity and mild temperature. Normally in Indianapolis this time of years it is 89-90 degrees with high humidity and miserable.

Perhaps the reason we hear the chant "Hurry! We have to stop global warming now!" is that they (whoever is behind this) know there is global cooling. If the legislation they want is enacted quickly and then it is shown the temperature dropped, a group of people can take credit for altering the weather.

It is kind of like Columbus, after looking at when the next eclipse will be, telling the natives they better give give give or the moon will be blotted out.

People are still trying to pull that same trick.

It hasn't been as hot here in Tampa as normal this summer.

Usually, starting in June through August, the high every day is around 94. This summer the high has averaged around 90.

FYI the highest temperature ever recorded in Tampa was 99 and that was many years ago.

Where I live, 90 is considered a COOL day! We have 90+ everyday from May to September. Today? 112.

In Ft. Lauderdale it’s been a nice summer, not as hot as expected. The daily afternoon/evening rain storm helps a lot.

Something very strange is going on with the climate. It starts out nice and cool in the morning, warms up as the day progresses, and on some days it even gets hot. Just when global warming seems inevitable, it will cloud up, cool down, and sometimes it gets cold at nights. I’m really freaked out about the whole thing. It will kill us all, if the government doesn’t fix it soon.

In Western PA so far this month, we are running 6 to 7 degrees below normal. Day time highs only in the low 70s, night time lows in the mid 50s all with low humidity. This time of year, it should be hot and sticky.

Next week, we may (at least according to long range forecasts) get to the upper 80s which would be more normal.
