SAN DIEGO The officer in charge of a Navy flight squadron that provides the president and the defense secretary the airborne ability to command and control the nation's nuclear submarines, bombers and missile silos has been relieved of duty, FOX News has confirmed.

It seems to me the MSM hyperventilates over the importance of this stuff. Sometimes CO’s mess up and when they do they get relieved. Happens regularly.

Uh... the CO of a Navy aviation squadron is a CDR (O-5). There are no "high-ranked commanders." All O-5s are equal in rank; one in 15 actually gets a command.

I also liked the story one of BJ's former military aides told that he couldn't get authorization for a hit on Obama because BJ didn't want to interrupt his golf game, IIRC.

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- The commanding officer of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron (VQ) 3 was relieved of his duties Aug. 11.
Cmdr. Shawn Bentley was relieved from duty by Capt. Brian Costello, commander, Strategic Communications Wing 1.
Costello cited the loss of confidence in Bentley's ability to command as the reason for his relief.
Cmdr. Erik Johnson has temporarily assumed command of VQ-3. Cmdr. Johnson had been serving as the Operations Officer for Commander, Strategic Communications Wing 1 and had previously served as the commanding officer of VQ-3.
Bentley, an E-6 naval flight officer, served as commanding officer since April 18 and previously served as the squadron's executive officer. He has been temporarily assigned to the staff of Commander, Strategic Communications Wing 1.

(Apr. 29, 2003) -- An E-6B Mercury is being moved into a Hanger at the Boeing Aerospace Support Center, Cecil Field Fla., to be retrofitted with a new cockpit and an advanced communications package. The E-6B is a dual-mission aircraft capable of fulfilling either the E-6A mission or the airborne strategic command post mission and is equipped with an airborne launch control system (ALCS).
