I've always liked rabbit. I like it battered and deep-fried and especially cooked over a campfire and brushed with barbecue sauce.
I read today that the price of rat meat has quadrupled in Cambodia concurrent with other food cost increases.

I like rabbit too. I prefer gently sauteeing them to deep frying, but to each his own. The only time I get one now, though, is when my little beagle bitch brings me one. I don’t have a place where a rabbit can start and I can see it long enough to shoot it.

Rabbits are vermin? If you’re going to call any annoying animal vermin, then most animals are vermin.

I’m not calling any annoying animal vermin. “Vermin” is a technical legal term applied to certain animals that are regarded as pests. What actually constitutes “vermin” will therefore vary from region to region. Basically, vermin are those creatures in an area to which there is not only no legal penalty for killing them, but in fact a positive inducement or encouragement to. An australian farmer will be overjoyed if you blast a rabbit on his land. Little Laura will be less pleased if you gun down “floppsy” in his cage in the garden.

Thanks for the definition. I didn’t know that.

Your dog sounds great. I will experiment with sauteing next time I get some rabbit.

I've seen some pretty tasty looking French recipes for rabbit on the internet. I wonder if rat meat could be substituted for rabbit.
