...'scare the bejesus out of them. And they’re doing it by highlighting this allegedly un-American, unpatriotic, weak, somehow foreign, and mysterious character named Obama'.

What is the smell in the air........ Liberal meltdown ?

This race is over, it's just a matter of how big McCain's victory will be. And if he has any coattails. Right now I've got the gop losing 5 in the senate, maybe holding or gaining a few in the house if their house renegades continue to stand tough.

There were no neo cons in 1980 to be Reagan's base. Fineman forgets the Reagan Dems, patriots who had tired of the anti American aspects of their candidates. People who voted for the likes of Scoop Jackson who had become persona non grata in their own party. Just by the numbers of enlistments past and present into the regular forces, the Reserves and the Guard it is clear that these patriots still exist in large numbers. They also pay high taxes and receive little of substance in return as entitlements and subsidies go to other classes of people and larger segments of business. These are the folks McCain is reaching towards.

If Fineman believes he is trying to scare them he's correct. Just as the haloed one tries to frighten people about the state of the economy without govt control, their health care without govt control, and their schools withour federal govt control. Fear is a partner with politics not simply a method. It is implied in why you must vote for me, because the other guy doesn't care about you. Attitudes like Fineman's never see the other side of the coin they are criticising.

McCain if he doesn’t go soft will win this election by a comfortable margin. This election since Obama has been nominated has been his to lose. I know Obama has been leading but the lead is a struggle and a lot of people still aren’t paying attention. McCain is doing good with the Independents that are paying attention and he is doing better with the conservative base than Obama. Those are two indicators that he has an advantage. The key thing he needs to do is to emphasize the things that made conservatism and being a Republican great. He is hitting on one of them. American strength in the world. This one he wins hands down. The next thing he needs to emphasize is a message that fingers regulation and oppressive taxation not free trade as the reason for Businesses moving overseas. He should make it part of his economic plan to change that. It is not a coincidence that states that have the most oppressive tax code have been the ones not to benefit from the previously very good economy. There are a lot of things he could do but he needs to point us back to Reagan and make that optimism and that commitment to those things that made and make this country great the foundation of the McCain Presidency.

He should also give some speeches that hearken back to the founding of this nation. Speak to that and he will speak to the hearts and minds of conservatives. McCain could easily outshine Reagan if he doesn’t go soft and proves his metal.
I couldn’t be more proud to support him as he has shown as a clear leader in the conflict with Georgia. I’m so tired of the wimp President Bush has morphed into. Tired of his looking into the eyes of evil and calling it soft and fluffy . Being a good Christian should not be a study in self delusion. We can thank the left for this transformation. I’m ready for a man with a little fire in his belly.

Lies Fineman in Newsweek Pamphlet (formerly Magazine)...[re Marxist Obama] And he’s the candidate who loves his country for the chances it’s given him.

Ahem... Mister Fineman of Newsweek Pamphlet (the same publication that lied about korans in toilets at Guantanamo causing the deaths of frenzied Newsweek believers) ...

Your precious Marxist candidate Obama is spending much of his candidacy evading questions about his past, and still won't tell us much about what he plans for you regarding "change" and "sacrifice".

Mister Obama has no pride in this country, our customs, our history, our military and its customs, and our culture; and as president, Obama would feel no urgency or need to preserve it.

Save for recent campaign rhetoric (and from left-wing groupies like you) there is nothing (NOTHING) that I have seen in anything Marxist Obama has ever said or written that has expressed as much as a molecule's worth of "love" for this wonderful country.

It will be a Great Victory for McCain and a Republican blowout recapturing control of the House and Senate. And the best news is it will mean the End of the Democrat Party. We will have one party rule by Republicans, probably for at least 20 years, until a new opposition party can be constituted. Think of what conservatives can do to bring America back to its true values in that time.

And that slice is: white (I did not spot a single African American in the crowd), rural, “exurban,” and mostly Protestant, with local roots stretching back centuries.

No African Americans spotted simply because 150% of them are voting for Odrama. Oh, and that's not racism, right Romano?

Here's the lib mindset for all to see in its unapologetic ugliness: WHITE!! Imagine if the other side said the same except switching to BLACK or HISPANIC!! It would have been a real global warming episode due to rioting and burning cities.

They live in “The T” of Pennsylvania – which encompasses pretty much everything outside of the metropolitan areas of Philly and Pittsburgh. It’s indubitably American.

Yeah, away from voter fraud in the urban armpits controlled totally by libs. This is why it’s indubitably American.

Something else the racist writer implied: "where you find no blacks, it’s indubitably American!" Last I checked, blacks ARE American!!

the Reagan-Bush Base — the one Lee Atwater and Karl Rove built — of Southern whites, evangelical Christians and combative necons [sic].

Necons? Neocons, nearly by definition, have never been part of the conservative electoral base. Fineman must be referring to Jacksonians. If he can't figure this out there is no sense reading anything else he writes.
