DENVER (AP/CBS4) An advocacy group for Somali immigrants has cautioned against linking terrorism to a man found dead in a Denver hotel with a pound of highly toxic sodium cyanide in his room. U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey said Thursday terrorism couldn't be ruled out, but that it was not indicated in the investigation.
Saleman Abdirahman Dirie, 29, of Ottawa was found dead Monday, and police say a powder found in his room was cyanide.
The cause of death hasn't been established. Police say they don't suspect foul play and the FBI says there's no apparent connection to terrorism.
The Somali Justice Advocacy Center in St. Paul, Minn., said Thursday that connecting Dirie's death to terrorism "is a rush to judgment."
Acquaintances have said Dirie's family came from Somalia as refugees and are now Canadian citizens.

The Somali Justice Advocacy Center is the only one in the mix jumping to conclusions or rushing to judgment. The FBI and Denver law enforcement have bent over backwards not to make the link.

I have wondered about that on a couple of occasions.
There aren’t a heck of a lot of uses for cyanide outside of a laboratory, industrial plant or prison gas chamber and last I heard it wasn’t too effective for killing crabgrass. I think it would be relatively safe to assume that the potential use of this amount of cyanide would be for nefarious purposes.
This group would have said the same thing if he had been found with anthrax or a suitcase nuke.

How do you kill hundreds of people with that? The hallmark of cyanide is its quick action, meaning it’s not very good for a mass ingestion poisoning, else the first victims’ twisted agonies kinda give a warning.
