Another issue of the National Enquirer, another round of sordid allegations about the extent to which John Edwards is lying about his affair with Rielle Hunter.
The four new pieces:
• Edwards didn't confess until after a campaign staffer walked in on him and Hunter having an "intimate moment" in hotel room. Word eventually got to Elizabeth Edwards, who then confronted John, who then admitted the whole thing. But this all happened after he'd already declared his candidacy for the presidency.
• The whole public tango over the DNA test, with Edwards saying he wants one and Hunter saying she doesn't: choreographed!
• Texas lawyer Fred Baron is still sending $15,000 a month to Rielle and $20,000 a month to alleged baby fall guy Andrew Young. (The New York Post has a reporter in Raleigh who interviewed a bunch of Young's neighbors; all pretty much expressed doubt that Young fathered the baby, but say he's loyal enough to Edwards to shoulder responsibility.
• Edwards last week called Hunter to tell her, "Of course I love you. Don't worry, we'll get through this."
As for how the Enquirer keeps getting access to information such as the intimate details of a private phone call while other major media outlets who have now devoted significant time and resources to the story still can't prove anything, Sharon Waxman ventures the obvious: they pay for stuff! We mentioned back on Wednesday that Hunter herself very well might be squeezing cash out of both Edwards and the Enquirer, and that the whole thing with her weird mystic friend Robert McGovern setting up the Beverly Hilton meeting had the faint whiff of blackmail gone awry. Writes Waxman:
"Imagine if Hunter was blackmailing Edwards for money—or, for more money, since she was already being paid a monthly stipend. And if she were pressuring him by leaking information to the National Enquirer. And if she tipped off the Enquirer to the July meeting, including such details as the number of rooms rented, and who was in them."
Imagine if it was Hunter who sold the Enquirer the blurry photo of John Edwards holding the baby of indeterminate paternity that David Perel declined to offer any details about, including who took it, or where, when, or how it was taken! (He told CNN last week that we can "presume" he paid for it.)
Edwards is probably wishing Hunter weren't so ambitious right around now.
Wouldn’t surprise me one bit. The sister was on ET yesterday and will be back today and she’s not happy with Riehlle, beginning with her name change because she’s always wanted to be “famous”.
It would not surprise me to learn that she is the one keeping the Inquirer informed for $. She seems to really not like Mrs. Edwards, so perhaps she is hoping to push her into divorcing him to speed up her being the next Mrs. Edwards.

After viewing some of “Rielle’s” work, it’s clear the only thing she’s good at is spreading her legs for the Breck Girl.
blackmail tends to come to a stop once the news is out and everyone knows. I would believe Hunter as the NE source intending to infuriate Elizabeth into leaving more than I would believe the blackmail angle.
Wonder how long it will take before someone finds her new location.
There was an interesting thread on this subject last Sunday evening on which a Freeper who's screen name is Eroteme (and he's a long-timer too, joined September 1998) advaced the "Reille is the Snitch" theory (my term, not Eroteme's) backed up by some very insightful observations involving the legalities of using a hidden camera to obtain images surreptitously in a place in which there is "a reasonable expectagion of privacy," esp. in the state of California, where it is assumed the pictures allegedly of Edwards and the "love child" were taken.
That would be my theory as well.

So - John telling Elizabeth “slowly” means her finding out from the press, him telling her it’s over, and then Elizabeth just NOW reading about last week’s “I love you” phone call from John to Rielle...
Yup, that’s telling her “SLOWLY”. As in, Elizabeth finds out about it at the same time the REST of the world finds out about it. Can you imagine the horror she must feel knowing THIS b*tch is angling to marry the father of HER children up her own death?
This is truly a gift from God in reality - this public revelation is only way that Elizabeth can spare her children the nightmare of having to live with the nutcase that is “Rielle” Francis “Hunter” Drucker. Drucker has already proven that she knows no morality - considering this skank’s hatred of Elizabeth, who knows what evil she might wreak upon Elizabeth’s children should she weasel her way into the mansion?
Elizabeth’s marriage may be toast, but there is hope that she can at least save her children from the clutches of this evil witch...
