You should reread my statements. I'm expecting woman to beat a girl. I just don't buy the validity of the argument that girls are better adapted to gymnastics than women.
I was referring to your questioning the training American gymnasts get. It’s the best in the world, and we do it without involuntary plucking of toddlers from their parents. Do you see any coaches on the Chinese team not from China? They are wards of the state. The best and brightest of both native born and immigrant Americans come here or stay here for the superior facilities, staff, environment - oh, and the FREEDOM to excel for their own pursuit of happiness.
The argument for the advantage of youth centers around biomechanics; I would think our greater concern would be for the abuse of the competitor’s unformed judgement about risk and the possible outcomes of overextension.
“I just don’t buy the validity of the argument that girls are better adapted to gymnastics than women.”
Then you don’t know many female gymnasts.
How much time have you spent around the sport?
Then you're in opposition to every gymnastics coach in the world, including former US coach Bela Karolyi. This isn't a matter of conjecture; one need only watch the sport for a while and it becomes obvious that a smaller frame is better adapted for gymnastics events.
Once girls’ bodies begin to mature, their center of gravity changes. Hips will change your balance. The smaller you are, the faster you will spin and tumble.
This is partly why a lot of gymnasts were virtually starving themselves years ago to help delay the onset of puberty. All the intense training delays it as well.
“I just don’t buy the validity of the argument that girls are better adapted to gymnastics than women. “
Buy it or not it is a fact. Can’t you understand that the stnadards of the sport are geared to prepubescent bodies?
