How about Georgia prommises not to invade S. Ossetia in exchange for every anti-tank and shoulder fire AA weapon we find in Iraq. Should be fair enough....they seem to need a few Kornets.
It is a fine line you have to draw here. It is a fact that military targets have civilian infrastructure around them. If troops use towns as refuge or garrison themselves in them then there is nothing to say that they can’t be attacked.
The Argentines were using the capital Stanley to position artillery in and they were targeted accordingly. You also have to take into consideration weapons malfunctions. NATO aircraft carrying cluster munitions in Yugoslavia also hit civilian areas. NATO cluster munition went astray and landed miles away from the Yugoslav airfield. It is a sad fact, but it is a problem for all military commanders.
Do you really think they lack sholder weapons like this?
The South Carolina’s failure in that war doesn’t necessarily mean that S.Ossetia shares its fate.
They do now.
A fighting side has the internationally legal right to confiscate such cargos. I believe if the USA proceed with this Russia will deploy navy searching all incoming vessels, bomb down any Georgian runways and will take control on Georgian border territories.
Georgia has a right to defend itself, Russia has no claim to rights in Georgia.
But thank you. Your last few posts have pretty much demonstrated who we are dealing with in the new Russia.
ABM, Anti-Tank, and AA systems are only a threat to those intent on invasion=Russia.
Enjoy the new expanded NATO.
Surely it has, but it doesn't have the right either to violate their previously signed treaties (like with Russia and South Ossetia on the armistice dated 1994) or shell civilian population.
At first, they started bombarding Russian peace-keeping personnel without any notice of leaveing the armistice treaty
Secondly, they started the war in a manner which is the most harmful for civilians.
