The fledglings need to figure out a way to negotiate surviving next to an angry bear because that’s where they have the misfortune to be located.
What an enviable position the Russians seem to be in at the moment. They’re the only ones willing to use the weapons they have in pursuit of their goals.
NATO seems toothless, a situation the old Soviet Union could only dream of.

The Ukraine would be wise not to anger the Bear with Old Europe's NATO forces covering their back.
France belongs to NATO (sort of) but their military doesn't, so they won't actually send troops to help anyone else. No one knows for sure if they will even fight to protect France as it hasn't happened yet.
The Germans won't even fight muslim terrorists in their own country - so they sure won't fight the Bear. They sent a hundred troops or so to the WOT to unroll bandages and drive pizza delivery trucks in the safe zone.
British troops are much better than their wimpy political leaders deserve but there aren't many of them. They will fight like mad except when ordered not to.
The other NATO countries all together might barely muster enough trained and equipped troops to guard NATO headquarters and only then if the USA pays them to do it.
But that's all the military any of them have needed for more than 60 years because they have had the USA to carry the freight for them, pay the bills and fight the fight while their politicians sit on the sidelines cheering against us.

NATO has become IMPOTENT. Even though the West may be in denial, the rest of the world is becoming aware of it. Putin knows that they can pretty much do whatever they want with complete impunity. The West will make sheep noises of complaint and that will be it. The West has been in denial of it’s enemies for some time now and the wake-up call is probably a little late.
Maybe, and the only people fighting back will be Muslim.

Agreed. With the exception of the Brits, the alliance has become worthless and not even Super Viagra can revive it. Old Europe will fall down on its knees and worship their dominators.

You raise a valid point. The same question applies to most of the other smaller NATO countries. When push comes to shove, the major powers will turn their backs on their smaller partners but in the meantime, lip service and posturing provides a hollow sense of security.
If we have Ukraine in NATO, Russia will declare war. They will probably do so anyway.
We need to be very careful, one false move and we will have WWIII and hundreds of millions will die.
Which is why we will loose the Southwest soon.
Because our friends and allies need to know they can depend on us?
Because we have to back up our words with actions lest we appear timid and invite more attacks?
Maybe we could built up a reputation like the Spartans where in a conflict all they had to do was send one Spartan and the other side would usually back down?
One thing that irks me is that we have to deal with cavemen type personalities that keep up with this terrorism and war when we should be free to turn our minds and energy to the glorious future that awaits us.
I really resent the miliant muslims and even the greedy power hungry Russians trying to drag us back into the 7th Century or into pointless war and destruction when I want to see how great mankind will and what strides we will make.
So in order to do that we have to decisively and immediately stop these Neanderthals and make them think 5 or 6 times before they consider starting up this nonsense and destroy or defang the ones that can't be reformed. eg. Putin, Ahmadinejad.
Why wait until it becomes even bigger than it already is?
The Russian troops were ecstatically pulling off the dead Georgian soldiers' bayonets and boots. Sounds like the Russian army isn't that well armed and probably not very motivated when push comes to shove.
Chekist Russia will never give up Sebastopol without a fight. If the Lord of Battles wishes for there to be a fight, then there will be a fight.
