The Putin Manifesto.

The audience was warned; Vladimir Putin had said he would “avoid excessive politeness.” Still, many were startled when the Russian President loosed an anti-American blast without equal in the post-Soviet period. The event was Putin’s Feb. 10 speech to a security affairs group in Munich. His 4,000-word address seethed with bitterness at today’s “unipolar”—that is, one-superpower—world. Putin called US moves “pernicious” and “illegitimate.” He slammed not only “hyper-use of force” and NATO expansion but also US “economic, political, cultural, and educational” imperialism. The ex-KGB chief’s speech sparked concern in Washington, where some thought it might signal the end of the post-Cold-War partnership and the beginning of a more-hostile Russian stance.

Short form of "Four and a Half Years of Fighting Against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice"?

We ought to adopt President Saakashvili's pet name for Pooty-Poot: Lili-putin.

This reportedly enraged the Liliputin.

I wish I had some cartooning skillz and draw an appropriate picture of the little Napoleon.

There is a big factor of psyco pathology in Putin, and the Russians. The collapse of the Soviet Union was kind of like the humiliation after WWI for the Nazis. Ditto the Japanese humiliation from westerners. If anything Pooties actions have made Russia less secure, almost overnight. What a idiot.

From Putin's mouth:

The use of force can only be considered legitimate if the decision is sanctioned by the UN.

I don't recall any UN resolution authorizing you to use force in Georgia. Thus we know how far to trust Putin's word.

About as far we could throw Lenin's Tomb.

It seems to me Mr. Putin made some valid points. There are limits to our military and economic power, and we would do well to stay within those limits. We get in trouble when we attempt to project power which we cannot sustain.

We should pull out of England. Even our Navy should just stay within 12 miles. We shouldn't of left the original colonies, it led to nothing but two hundred years of indian wars. Siding with England against the Kaiser led to Hitler and that led to the Cold War and that led to Putin. It's our fault.

The ex-KGB chief’s speech

It's my understanding that Putin was never the 'chief' of the KGB, he was just one more KGB officer, and described by some as not a very good one. Think 'Inspector Clouseauski' of the KGB.

You are correct, he was in the "First Chief Directorate" (Foreign intelligence branch)

I would imagine someone like Putin probably was very good at what he did and not very 'Inspector Clouseauski' like at all.

Interesting that McCain was there to see first hand the Bear growling

I imagine Uh'bama would find a nuanced statement basically agreeing with Putin and blaming Bush

In the interest of accuracy, Putin did serve for approximately a year as head of the 'FSB', the successor to the KGB (appointed by Yeltsin as I recall), and in some ways he had to have some skills intel-wise, to have survived to this point.

The 64 ruple question is, has he overreached with his little Georgian adventure?

Depends who wins POTUS this Nov.

McCain wins: definitely

Uh'bama wins: He will grab more

Europe will sit on the hands.
