So affecting is his sincerity that we got three separate requests for this last night within minutes of it airing, one of them from MKH. As for Collinsworth’s question, I don’t know how to take it, frankly. From the transcript it reads like he’s making a neutral point about how American culture views patriotism, but watch his expression as he asks it. Clearly he’s not trying to get him to say, “Yeah, you’re right, it’s stupid to be proud of your country” in the middle of their Olympics coverage, but … weirdness.
Good work by NBC, though, in dousing a poignant moment in hokey musical cheese, just in case there were any chimps watching who can’t grasp the sentiment without an orchestral cue. Click the image to watch.
has he give to obama?
"Is that a cool thing to say, in this day and age?"
Unbelievable! . . . but I believe it.
Collingsworth says, "Tell the story when you first got your U.S.A. uniform." He didn't ask, "How did you feel when you first got your U.S.A. uniform?" This means he already knew the story. IMHO, Collingsworth set Bryant up to hit a home run.

A cool thing to say...as Collinsworth reaps all the benefits. What a sneering punk. I’ll give Kobe a bit of credit for trying to acknowledge how good he has it.
He did get his portrait done by the same guy who does the Obama posters:
I watched it live last night...
I REALLY wanted to spit on Collinsworth after he asked that question in that way....Bryant handled himself VERY WELL and you felt good to be an American listening to him....
wheres the video link?
Say what you will about Kobe's past trysts...he handled himself with class and patriotism last night. I don't know what angle Collinsworth was going for, but Bryant didn't buy it.
Equally as shocking and impressive to me, shortly after that interview answer, they showed Bryant giving media interviews in Italian and Spanish.
Why were the interviews in Spanish and Italian shocking? Kobe spent much of his childhood in Europe. His father played in the Italian league. He’s fluent in both languages. Not every pro basketball player is from the hood.
I really got the idea that Collinsworth was trying to line himself up to due a political talk show on MSNBC ala keith loserman...
The Kobe Bryant video link is on this page (scroll down):

I guess I didn’t realize that...never knew much about Kobe or his biography...I learned something new, that’s all. Thanks for the background.
