There's a reason why she has driven away all the men in her life and why the only comfort she'll get in her old age will be from her cats. I just never quite got all the criticism of her looks here.

Oh it’s worse than that. Modo’s columns scathingly tore Bill and Hill apart over Monicagate. Bill sent Douglas in to.. umm ..straighten Moddo out. All of a sudden, they’re a pair, photo in Page Six. all lovey dovey.
Modo’s columns suddenly switch to the theme that Ken Starr is a right wing, sex crazed fanatic. Douglas’ work is done, so he dumps her for CZJ.
Modo sold her soul out for a little Hollywood nooky.
That’s Arthur Ochs “Pinch” Sulzberger, owner of the New York Times. His preference in sleeping partners would not include anyone of Maureen Dowd’s gender.

And THEN she started those whacky columns about what men really want and why do they wind up with stupid women with no ambition but to be MOTHERS (the horror!).
That men are AFRAID of real women - smart women!
