The despondent flaccid balloon is a nice touch.

He gives away political concessions when he holds the upper hand. Heck, he ought to be a Republican!

The semi-deflated balloon gives a nice subtle touch to it also.

"Bill and Hillary Clinton have no leverage over Obama. Hillary can't win the nomination."

That's not exactly true: If, behind the scenes, Hillary has convinced enough of the superdelegates to change their minds, she will be the democratic nominee, no matter what Team Obama believes. One should never count the Clinton's out.

He definitely could use a backbone implant. To me the most striking example is that he could sit in the racist Reverend Wright’s church for 20 years and not say a word...until it came to light.

This guy is a chameleon.

You’re nuts. Demographics are much more finely grained than that. He may resonate with the over 50 hippy/commie/marxist set and the over 50 white-guilt mush for brains set, but that’s it.

Obama couldn't stand up to the Clintons. What makes any one think he would stand up to the Russians or the Iranians? Case closed - this guy has no backbone to be a strong President in a dangerous world.

He has both a backbone deficit and a brain deficit.

So Obama gave away Tuesday night, Wednesday night and part of Thursday night to the Clintons. It will really be their convention. A stronger candidate would've called their bluff and confined the Clintons to one night on which both Hillary and Bill spoke (he would have outshone her). He would have blocked a roll call by allowing a voice vote to nominate by acclimation. He would have stood up to the Clintons and recaptured his own convention.

An interesting question is why did he do this, after his heavy-handed treatment of them during the primary races. Why offer consessions now ?

THere's something else going on here...
