Dutch Club to Recycle Dancers' Energy
By Rachel Nolan
Wind power is great. But what about all that energy you expend on the dance floor on Saturday night? A next-generation nightclub wants to use that energy to keep the strobes lit and the bass bumping.

Clubs use 150 times the power of normal households. New nightclubs in Rotterdam and London are harnessing human power to light "eco-clubs."
First it was your mom nagging you to turn off the lights. Then came the brick in the toilet to save water, the long-life light bulbs and carbon credits to ease your conscience during those polluting cross-continent flights.
Soon you can add a night out clubbing to your bag of green tricks. A new technology developed by the environmental innovation lab Enviu takes advantage of the vast amount of energy expended by revellers as they throw themselves around the dance floor. And its debut is right around the corner. On September 2, Iggy Pop will be performing at Club Watt in Rotterdam, Holland. And those on the dance floor will play their part in keeping the lights lit and the bass thumping.

Great, the lightshow will now suck due to leadfooted people with no rhythm.
Next, strip clubs will connect the poles to a generator.
I am Dutch. And I find this nonsense. Even if you want to care about the environment whilst enjoying yourself:
- consider all the energy expenditure spent by all to get to the club and back home in the first place;
- consider the noise pollution produced by these clubs in general;
- consider the truckloads of alcohol and drugs these clubs are notorious for;
- consider having to hop around on a floor that ‘gives’ by one centimeter (awful!);
...ah well I could go on. Idiots.
LOL, you are killing me!
brick in the toilet?
Less water used per flush.
The brick goes in the tank, not the bowl.
Drop a brick in the bowl, that’d be one splattered up bathroom! gross.
She said as a little girl, sitting there after lifting the brick to do her business, she wasted no time after thinking about what might be crawling up while she was sitting so close and exposed.
Unfortunately Post Offices will continue to be black holes, sucking up energy without any apparent human effort to recycle.
On the bright side, brothels appear to have the potential for seven minute spurts of energy.
