WASHINGTON -- The 110th Congress, whose term officially ends in January, hasn't passed any spending bills or attacked high gasoline prices. But it has used its powers to celebrate watermelons and to decree the origins of the word "baseball."

That would be great. Meet once per quarter. Pay 1/3 of their present salary. Eliminate the lobbyists and forbid congressional staff living or working in Washington while Congress is not is session. One other rule would be that they work only during normal business hours. No late sessions lasting into the wee hours of the morning.

I am excited just thinking about it. They might see the approval rating go up a few points.

Why bother passing anything when screaming about the other party is such an effective weapon to swing at the voters.

Reckon we can get them to increase their rate?

Now, if we could just get them to do that without omnibus legislation. One bill, one topic, one law, not a go-zillion riders and ‘earmarks’, and not some 1400 page tome printed the night before the vote.

Actually we would all be better off if they just came to town to do mandatory appropriation bills. Passing laws which are almost always BAD harm the nation and whittle away at the Freedom we have left!

“Being a member of Congress should be a part time job. It would be much better for the country.”

It seems that it is a part time job, unfortunately they are being paid full time.

Thank heaven for small favors.

Let them stay home for the next ten years and let the states run their own economies and security.

Right. Their salaries should be cut in half.

Unfortunately, THEY determine their own salaries.

Wish I could do that.

They say that like it's a BAD thing.

I'm not so sure it is, especially with a Dem congress.

but if they didn’t name them, the employees wouldn’t know where to go to work and our country would shut down.

Should go to prove that at least %9 are certifiably nuts.
How can any sane thinking person approve of this congress?

“passed fewest number of bill...”

that is the only accomplishment of this Congress, IMHO. There are too many laws - need to start deleing some.
