As Oil Giants Lose Influence, Supply Drops
New York Times ^ | August 18, 2008 | JAD MOUAWAD

Oil production has begun falling at all of the major Western oil companies, and they are finding it harder than ever to find new prospects even though they are awash in profits and eager to expand.

Part of the reason is political. From the Caspian Sea to South America, Western oil companies are being squeezed out of resource-rich provinces. They are being forced to renegotiate contracts on less-favorable terms and are fighting losing battles with assertive state-owned oil companies.

And much of their production is in mature regions that are declining, like the North Sea.

The reality, experts say, is that the oil giants that once dominated the global market have lost much of their influence — and with it, their ability to increase supplies.

There is not a single mention of the fact that American liberalism has locked up US oil reserves.

If they cannot increase the supply, wouldn’t it be followed by price increase?

It should begin to sink in that:

The mess in Georgia is mostly due to the liberals, the Sierra Club and assorted rinos.

The decrease in the value of the dollar is mostly due to the same crowd.

Our high gas prices and the terrible burden on the working person who heats with oil this winder; all due to the same liberal crowd.

Now how could the problem in Georgia be the fault of our liberals and rinos?

Because Russia has huge reserves of oil and gas and they have used those reserves as a club over Europe. They have used the money they got from the sale of this oil, some of the money ours, to finance their goals.

On the other hand, we are low on money due to our huge payments for oil.

So the libs and the rinos not only have hurt us in our pocket book, but they have seriously damaged our national security.

We do not have the money or the energy to go up against Russia in Europe.

We do not have the oil to sell to Europe. So Europe must hang with Russia or pay a terrible cost.

All thanks to the libs and the rinos.

I think oil companies see the wave of taxes and regulations promised by extreme left wingers and wondering if it’s all worth it...

On the other hand, we are low on money due to our huge payments for oil.

My understanding is that the weak dollar, and the inflation, is due to Federal Reserve policy, which has up until recently greatly weakened the dollar. The prices have gone up because the dollar has gone down, not the other way around.
