Of course. Most of us are followers of Christ. Christ loves Tubbs-Jones as much as he loves any of us. He went to the cross for her as well as us. I hope she knew Christ.
Absolutely. Serious illness, loss of a family member, death...these are all areas where politics MUST take a backseat. I did it for Ted Kennedy, who I couldn't be more politically opposed to if I tried...and I can do now for Rep. Tubbs Jones and her family, the latter needing our prayers for strength to weather this unexpected loss.
I'm not all that familiar with Rep. Tubbs Jones, other than my being generally aware of her political positions of course...but what I do recall about her from the times I've seen her on television was her bright, energetic smile that seemed to light up the room. I can only believe that such a presence bespoke a warmness that her family, friends and loved ones must already be missing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of them during their time of sadness.
It's always been that way, as far back as I can recall. Even when I used to post on the MSNBC Political and Opinion BBS in 1996, you could easily tell who was liberal and who was conservative just from the comments when some public figure, regardless of party affiliation, passed on.
I can remember back in 2002 here at FR when Senator Wellstone perished in that plane crash, the condolences were flowing all around here, but on DU they were hatching conspiracy theories that the Bush administration murdered him.
Amen to that. It is the first thing that I noticed.
Very telling, don’t you think?
